Anyone not towing this party line, anyone who would dare stand for King Jesus and His truth, became a target of the most vehement and perverse  protestations.  Spit, coke, ice cubes, sticks, cans, water bottles, chicken wings, carrots, curses, middle fingers, ranting and ravings, maniacal screaming, and mooning were the fare of the day.  Talk about hate crimes!  Were it not for the Atlanta Police Department and the SWAT team that quickly surrounded us (20 gentle Christian warriors) we would not be here today.

As it was, they attacked our sound system, ripped signs from our hands, blasted air horns into our ears, threw our signs into the street, and did everything imaginable - some of it unimaginable - to stop the presentation of the Gospel of Christ.  There was little that we or the police could do.  There were so many.  The mob mentality taking over the crowd reminded us of the “Arab street.”  Two of them were cuffed and arrested, but not without incredible difficulty.  The sodomite mob began grabbing and tussling with the police officers.

One Atlanta Sergeant screamed for us to shut down the sound system because we were inciting a riot.  We reminded him that we were not the ones rioting.  He hollered, “Shut it down!  Shut it down!  We can’t protect you!”  The officer holding the two arrested men was losing his grip on them. Hundreds were now moving into the fray - all hell was breaking loose.  When this happens, however, all heaven comes down.

As soon as our situation appeared hopeless, a Major and a large contingent from the Atlanta SWAT team came to our aid.  He had his men surround us, secured the men who were arrested, and then told us to, “Set the sound system back up!”  I told him I didn’t think that was necessary, we were done for the day.  He then commanded me, “Set the sound system up, NOW!"  We did as we were told, and for another hour and a half we gave ‘em heaven.  This was nothing less than the intervention of Almighty God Himself.  Thank you Jesus.       

We were certainly unwelcome guests in this sea of lust filled sodomites.  From the time we stepped into the streets and began “one on one” evangelism, we were looked upon as the disturbers of the peace.  Truth is hate to those who hate the truth!  Christianity had come out of the closet and, as it did, we came to realize that diversity and tolerance are simply “words” that the Human Rights Campaign uses to push its lying dogma down the throat of every American.  Sodomy will never tolerate truth, for truth will set the captive free.  Truth is not something the homosexual community wants.  It prefers to keep men slaves to their own burning lusts that can never be satisfied and always bring death.  Homosexual sodomy is a monstrous lie that kills. 

We began by passing out tracts (Stephen Bennett’s, “I was a Gay”) and colorful bracelets (with Scripture verses on the inside and a website) while trying to engage people in conversations prior to parade.  We had some incredible opportunities to witness the love of Christ pour into hearts.  Other conversations were not so pleasant but, nevertheless, the Gospel was proclaimed.

What was most stunning, is that most of the folks we witnessed to believe themselves to be Christian – they just happen to be homosexual.  They have all the right language and know all the right verses yet the “gospel” they refer to is a “different gospel” (2 Corinthians 11:3-4, 13-15) which the Apostle Paul says is no “gospel” at all (Galatians 1:6-7).  They are so lost and so desperately in need of the truth and a Savior, but the apostate church that claims the Name of Jesus is lying to them.  That’s right!  The United Methodist Church, United Church of Christ, Episcopal Church, Metropolitan Community Church, Lutheran Church, and several more, had floats in the parade celebrating homosexual sodomy.  Can you imagine the confusion?

There seemed to be a few standard statements from the majority of Pride attendees:
• Don’t judge
• God loves everyone
• Jesus never said anything about homosexuality
• I was born this way
• God wouldn’t have made me this way if that wasn’t what He wanted

This was the 37th year that Atlanta has had a pride event.  It started off very small with about a 100 people in attendance in 1970 and has grown to an estimated 300,000 this year.  Piedmont Park in Downtown Atlanta (Where “Atlanta Pride” is held every year) has become a homosexual bastion.  Kids can no longer go near the park or use the bathrooms because of what is going on in there.  Parks all across America that were established for family and children have now become pigsties for sodomites to ply their perverse behavior.      

What if pedophiles began holding parades in our nation (they are prominent in these homosexual parades, just not advertised), would that cause an outcry in our nation?  What if our nation began to hold parades for men and women that had sex with animals; would that wake us up?  Not likely. 

As perverse and sick as these two examples are, they are only as abhorrent to us now as homosexuality was thirty years ago.  Now homosexuality is accepted by a majority in our nation thanks to the media, our public schools, our government, and our courts.  So who do you think is going to be parading their sin like Sodom thirty years from now?  That is if America has thirty more years left. 

Laws are going to be passed that would make reading Leviticus 18:22 a crime of hate and punishable in a court of law in the near future.  Hate crimes legislation is already in the offing in both the United States Senate and House.  Indeed, truth is hate to those who hate the truth.  Our country needs to get back to Jesus Christ and call what is evil, evil and what is good, good while standing fully and completely on the Word of God! 

God was clearly at work and gave us favor during the parade.  He had a message for those in attendance and it was spoken.  We left our homes at 5:00 AM on Sunday morning and made the four hour trip to Atlanta, Georgia, not out of hate, but out of love.  Dave Lackey from Birmingham, Alabama and James Esser from Atlanta joined us.  It is time for us, all of us who love Christ and have experienced His saving power, to come out of the closet and express that love to those who are being led away to death. 

This is why we go out to face this beast, not to tell them they are all going to hell, but to tell them we love them. Yes, and we tell them that if they don’t repent from their sin and ask Jesus Christ for forgiveness they will be going to hell.  They need to know that there is hope, and Jesus Christ is the one and only answer.  If for some reason you knew that your neighbor’s house was going to burn down in the middle of the night wouldn’t you tell him, even if he thought you were crazy?
