Promoting the Manhattan Declaration is, in my view, an error.
Sadly, many prolifers will jump in bed with these "major Christian leaders" and give further credibility to their demonic exceptions and incrementalist's doctrines.
Oh, make no mistake, the vast majority of what is written is very good and sound prolife doctrine. But Please! Prayerfully consider these words from the first paragraph under the"LIFE" heading in the Manhattan Declaration and what they truly mean:
"The President says that he wants to reduce the “need” for abortion—a commendable goal. But he
has also pledged to make abortion more easily and widely available by eliminating laws
prohibiting government funding, requiring waiting periods for women seeking abortions, and
parental notification for abortions performed on minors. The elimination of these important and
effective prolife laws cannot reasonably be expected to do other than significantly increase the
number of elective abortions by which the lives of countless children are snuffed out prior to birth."
In a recent rarticle Rev. Flip Benham wrote (OperationSaveAmerica.org)
on the Stupak-Pitts amendment to the House Health Care Bill, he exposed the caveat "...THEN you can kill the baby," how can we sign a document that calls Obama's goal to "reduce the need for abortion" a "commendable goal?" Reducing abortion means that some abortions of which he approves (rape, incest, mom's life or health) are still okay if not commendable.
How can you sign onto a document that calls "requiring waiting periods for women seeking abortions, and parental notification for abortions performed on minors" "important and effective prolife laws?" These are lies, remember? Don't allow yourself to vote "yay" on prolife pollution and exceptions doctrines even when tactfully tucked away amidst 4,600+ words of otherwise good stuff.
I urge OSA leadership to not only reconsider signing but rather expose the flaws in this document. Demand incrementalism be stopped not preached as "important and effective." (Eph 5:11: "Have NOTHING to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness but rather expose them." ) Exceptions must never be allowed to be affirmed as "important and effective prolife laws" or allowed to be inserted in an otherwise potentially, significant prolife document.
Call for a revision today and plead with these these "major Christian Leaders" to repent or be seen for their compromising stand. At least, please reconsider promoting prolife pollution because even a teaspoon of poison in a 5 gallon drum pollutes it to our harm. This does not honor God's Word. A polluted document, pretending to be entirely "prolife" is a flawed and anti-Biblical World-view. The language above must be removed before I can sign it.
