Denver’s Jim Pouillon Memorial Gospel Proclamation
Success!
On the morning of September 11, 2009 Jim Pouillon was peacefully proclaiming the truth about abortion outside an Owosso, Michigan high school when he was shot to death in front of students. The county's chief assistant prosecutor, Sara Edwards, said that Harlan James Drake seemed to be aggravated by Pouillon's presence outside the school; "the fact that he (Jim) was outside the high school with his signs in front of children going to school." Apparently, Mr. Drake thought that witnessing a ruthless murder would not affect the children as negatively as the truth about abortion would.
Pro lifers nationwide are determined to pick up Jim’s cross and life’s passion to declare the truth to high school students in his honor. And that is what happened today in city after city across America.
Denver saints hit the frozen streets outside of North High School in Denver at 6:30 a. m., November 24, 2009, in honor of our slain brother in Christ. The students arriving for school were receptive, asking questions and taking lots of our literature. One young lady named Jenny told us of her 16 year old friend that wants an abortion because she believes that no one will help her. We loaded Jenny up with information and resources to persuade her friend to keep her precious little one. Pray that we hear from them soon.
At lunch time we went to Adams City High School in Commerce City where we were met by the principal, Wes Paxton. Wes did not want us or our displays anywhere near the students and after a short discussion about where we would be allowed to stand he called the police. When the police arrived Mr. Paxton tried to get us moved to across the street. After several discussions and six squad cars on campus, Lieutenant Cubbage arrived and allowed us to remain in place. Very few students left the school grounds at lunch time so it was decided that we would stay on site until school at 2:20 p.m. That decision led to over one thousand students getting pro life literature and gospel tracts in their hands and one salvation. A young lady named Celene approached us with sincere questions about a relationship with Jesus. She told us that there are no Christians in her family but that she heard a preacher talk about Jesus on T.V. and that she wanted to know more. We took her through the gospel and she prayed and accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior!
A friendly young man told us that he doesn’t believe in God because he believes in science. We asked him which law of science tells him what is right and what is wrong. Of course, he admitted that there is no such law. When we asked him to explain how the information contained within the cell evolved, he admitted that he couldn’t. We told him that he knows as much about how information “evolved” as the renowned evolutionists Carl Sagan and Richard Dawkins. NOTHING. Then we got to tell him and a very nervous Mr. Paxton about the author of science. The young man left unsaved, but thinking. Our brother Jim’s memorial outreach gave us the opportunity to have many meaningful and thought provoking conversations with the kids as the police and principal Paxton listened. Jim, we hope you are smiling as you sup with Jesus.
