Abortion Violence Outreach to Las Vegas High School
Chet Gallagher 11/25/2009
Jim Pouillon National High School Witness Las Vegas, NV On Tuesday, November 24, 2009, Christian warriors from across the nation allowed the theology of the church house to become biography in the streets in honor of Jim Pouillon – America’s first pro-life martyr. Jim lived out God’s love for unborn babies every day of his life for the past twenty years in his beloved city of Owasso, Michigan. Everyone living in Owasso, Michigan had seen Jim and his graphic signs at one venue or another. This morning, perhaps as many as 50 cities had a Prolife Outreach memorial. Many Christians came out to display horrible and very graphic images exposing the hideous truth of abortion to High School students all over America. At Las Vegas High School it looked like I was the only person able to participate. I thought I could excuse myself since it appeared no one was joining me. “Lord,” I prayed, “It would be a poor showing if only one person showed up.” Then the Lord reminded me…Jim Pouillon, the prolife martyr we were celebrating today, did just that, almost always alone and for over 20 years! Day after day by himself he courageously provoked his community at every possible venue, especially in front his granddaughter’s high school where he was gunned down this year on 9-11. I never appreciated my good friend, Jim, more than I did this morning, (except perhaps when we first met inside the Atlanta, GA Key Road Prison after our first “Operation Rescue arrest” in October 1988. So, taking two signs I arrived at Las Vegas High School, though quite unwelcomed for sure. Las Vegas High School is the city’s first high school and now numbers over 3500 in their new building overlooking “Sin City” in the valley below. The result was that many students and their parents were confronted with the harsh reality of baby murder through elective abortion. God had a plan and hundreds and hundreds of students (and parents) had to enter the main driveway where I stood with the two signs (below) praying for them as they slowed and many times stopping altogether gazing upon baby Malachi and reading the challenge to “Speak Out!” Several police “attended to me” and my mission with typical Las Vegas finest professionalism and concern. (Two patrol cars, 3 cops on bicycles and yes, even the police helicopter circling overhead!) Officers expressed concern at the images. One said, “These kids haven’t had abortions.” “Maybe not yet,” I replied “and hopefully after seeing the horrible truth today, many never will!” It opened the door for some of the best conversations I’ve had with officers in some time. Oh, they did ask me to cross the street away from the very busy driveway. I simple said, “No.” and the Police … well… they simply left. “Hallelujah!” Surprisingly, I was soon joined by another prolife warrior/intercessor, Dr. Virginia Rommel, a friend to OSA and the State Chairwoman for the National Day of Prayer. Ginny is committed to intercession and clearly understands the principle of “Praying On-site with Insight.” In other words, she “gets it.” Her challenge to me was, “Are we coming back tomorrow?” Ginny is one of those prophetic intercessors who are drawn to the “gates of hell” like a magnet. She not only understands God’s command to the Prophet Jeremiah. She lives it out: "Get up and get dressed! Go out, and tell them whatever I tell you to say. Do not be afraid of them, or I will make you look foolish in front of them.” (Jer.1:17NLT) So, yes, we will return tomorrow to reach Students, parents and teachers again just so you can join us, Wednesday, Nov 25th. First at 6:30 AM as hundreds arrive and again later as they leave school earlier than usual for Thanksgiving break. Hopefully many will engage us; take our tracts and free movie tickets to Maafa 21! I strongly encourage you to come out with us. The next 2 verses in Jeremiah 1 are words of encouragement for you: “For see, today I have made you immune to their attacks. You are strong like a fortified city that cannot be captured, like an iron pillar or a bronze wall. None of the kings, officials, priests, or people of Judah will be able to stand against you. They will try, but they will fail. For I am with you, and I will take care of you. I, the LORD, have spoken!"” (Jer. 1:18-19) Call me for details: (702) 343-4725. OSALasvegas@Gmial.com...
