Well, we were a week late, but God’s timing is not our timing! Because of the school closures last week here in New Orleans , we had to postpone our Memorial to Jim Pouillon. But regardless of the date, God was glorified today. All things work together for our Lord’s Glory, and glorified was He, our King, King Jesus!
The “real” saints of New Orleans decided last week they would hold their vigil just one week later so as to honor Jim. We showed up at East Jefferson High School at 6:45 AM. The weather, a bit brisk but tolerable, and approximately 20 of the faithful saints of God took Jesus to the school. As the students began to pull up, we began to share the hope of Christ and expose abortion for what it truly is, murder! The students received us well and so did most of the teachers! Yes, that is right, almost all were openly receiving our tracts on abortion. One R.O.T.C. leader from the school, who was standing at the entrance of the building, was heard saying (as students were gathering tracts), “Well, it is nice to know you will be reading today.”
Imagine that, students being challenged to read our tracts! Several students stopped (by their own decision) and allowed us to pray for them!! I mean, can it get any better? Yes! The first police officer who showed up was not happy at all to see us and began to threaten arrests. He told us in his own words, “You don’t have a right to be here!” Brother Bill (such a gentle giant) shared with him, “This is a public school, is it not? This is a public sidewalk, and we are the public!”
We literally handed out over 200 pieces of literature to the students, and we know that today the topic of conversation will be Jesus!! In fact, one of the men from the school who was watching the entrance came out at one point and said with frustration, “This is a school! Do you all realize that we won’t be getting any class work done today because this is all the students will be talking about?!” Glory!

As time winded down and our window of opportunity closed, we decided our job was done. But as we continued to converse with the police as they showed up, we reminded them of their sworn duty to protect those little babies who cannot protect themselves. The Lieutenant showed up and recognized us from the street ministry in front of the abortion mill in Metairie . He then confronted one of his own officers who had been telling us how he has an ordinance against what we were doing. The response from this Lieutenant, his superior officer, was “Not for this you don’t!” and that we were within our constitutional rights!! That’s right, God is moving, and He not only went to school today, but also “taught the officer of his sworn duty!”
Victory!!
