Chet Gallagher and Response by Jill Stanek with foreword by Rev Flip Benham 1/14/2010
Hey Flip!
Bless you!
Jill certainly pointed out some significant events. It is always encouraging when so many amazing prolife events of national significance take place in one year.
However, I personally would not have endorsed her entire list with your statement: "...and we are in hardy agreement with her."
I certainly agree with 9 out of 10, but I am surprised you would seem to agree so "hardily" with Jill who makes this statement in item #8: "...Democrat pro-life Rep. Bart Stupak may earn the title of Most Influential Pro-lifer of both the first and second decades of the 21st century."
Flip, Bart Stupak is not maintaining a Biblical prolife position. Frankly, God may not even allow this "exception-ist" amendment to have any affect in the final "Health Care" bill at all.
So Jill missed this one, actually really missed it. She could have pointed out the significance of abortion remaining the greatest obstacle to this Heath Care debacle. That's certainly true and of significance, and therefore worthy of listing but it should have been mentioned without hailing Stupak as possibly earning "the title of Most Influential Pro-lifer of both the first and second decades of the 21st century." Would you agree?
By the way, we haven't even entered the second decade of the 21st century yet, so the comment is flatly a Stupak one...I mean "stupid" one.
Some disclaimers from you may be in order rather than a blanket "hardy agreement."
But, then, that's just my opinion.
Love ya!
Chet
Chet disagreed with #8 of my column, “The Top 10 pro-life stories of 2009.” Chet wrote, “Flip, Bart Stupak is not maintaining a Biblical prolife position. Frankly, God may not even allow this ‘exception-ist’ amendment to have any affect in the final ‘Health Care’ bill at all.”
To clarify, I wrote (highlighted portion particularly germane), “It remains to be seen whether an inability to compromise on abortion leads to socialized health care's downfall in 2010. If it does, Democrat pro-life Rep. Bart Stupak may earn the title of Most Influential Pro-lifer of both the first and second decades of the 21st century.
My premise for distinguishing Stupak was only if his roadblock brings down the entire healthcare bill. I agree with Chet the healthcare bill has many other problems.
One final note, the first decade of the 2000s was 2000-2009 – 10 years. The second decade began January 1, 2010.
Thanks and God bless,
Jill Stanek
