Oh, the humiliation! Oh, the pain of it all! Charlotte’s most outrageous display of open homosexual sodomy, dressed to the nines in tuxes and tails, has had to move its sorry dead carcass to Raleigh, North Carolina. That’s Right! The Human Rights Campaign (HRC), the nation’s largest pro-homosexual advocacy group, has moved one of its major fund-raising dinners out of the city of Charlotte and into the city of Raleigh.
Why? To freely paraphrase John Adams, “because of an irate and tireless minority, keen to set brush fires of the Gospel of Christ in hearts and minds of those desperately lost in their sin.” The Charlotte Observer was the first to pull its sponsorship from HRC over two years ago. This was followed by other large corporate donors lessening their support. Major banks like Wachovia and Bank of America are also pulling back due to the financial situations they find themselves in.
But what really caused HRC’s move to Raleigh, was the efforts of an irate and tireless minority that has, over the past five years, confronted this proud homosexual community with its utter debasement as it made its way from the Hilton Hotel to the Convention Center in Charlotte. It is only a two hundred yard walk from the hotel to the Convention Center. This little two hundred yard walk brought each and every one of HRC’s finest face to face with the claims of Christ and the fact that their lives had become a sham, a cover-up, a lie, and a living rebuke to the Gospel of Christ. Their wretched and tormented souls longed for acceptance, yet they ran into Biblical love that condemns homosexual sodomy and sets sexual slaves free.
This little two hundred yard walk from the Hotel to the Convention Center became an unbearable rebuke to men longing for God’s love, yet seeking it in the arms of another man. They would rather do anything than to have to make that walk again. They believe they can escape it by moving to another city. But their lust cannot be satisfied in Raleigh any more than it could be satisfied in Charlotte. It knows only one word – MORE! Only Jesus, only Jesus can set the captive free.
Our prayer is that an irate and tireless minority will be raised up in Raleigh. That they will rise up in Jesus’ magnificent Name, keen to set brush fires of the Gospel of Christ in the minds and hearts of those so desperately lost in their sin.
