What happened in Court?
First, several of us met on the sixth floor of the Mecklenburg Court Building and prayed for our attorney David G. Redding. We knew that God had raised him up for a time like this. We asked our Lord to give him wisdom to tear down the arguments of the Plantiffs who were attempting to remove us from the place where children in the womb were being killed. In the past 565 days 647 babies have been saved at the three abortion mills in the city of Charlotte. We knew we needed a miracle to keep us on the streets. We prayed for God’s justice to be done in this honorable court.
Mr. Largess, the attorney for Deborah Walsh and Family Reproductive Health, took the first hour and thirty minutes presenting his case seeking a permanent injunction against us. This injunction would create a 60 foot Gospel free bubble around the mill. Just what they desired. Mr. Largess used alleged acts of violence on our part in his attempt to silence the Gospel of Christ outside the abortion mill on Hebron Street .
As I listened to him and the accusations (all of which were untrue or half true) thrown at us, I became greatly discouraged and despondent. Things looked pretty bad for our side as Mr. Largess laid out his case. I would have hated us for doing the things he said we were doing. He had sworn affidavits from abortionists, clinic employees, and pro-abortion escorts, concerning all of our alleged misdeeds and violence.
He kept bringing up the murder of George Tiller and the fact that Dr Flood, one of the abortionists at Family Reproductive Health, feared for his life. He described how we passed out “Wanted Posters” with the pictures of Dr.’s Flood and Harris on them. He kept reminding the judge that we were a nuisance, blocking the driveway, causing accidents, screaming at a captive audience, throwing rocks at cars, and violating the rights of Family Reproductive Health to “operate a lawful business and provide medical health care (read kill babies) to clients.”
When Mr. Largess was done, I was sick in my heart. He had painted us all with a very broad brush and made us look like the vilest most violent people on earth. I felt that the Judge, who was hearing all of this for the first time, was sure to grant the injunction.
Then a miracle took place before my very eyes. David G. Redding stood up to plead our case. “The first to present his case seems right until another comes forward to question him” Proverbs
I was privileged to watch the most masterful legal representation I have ever witnessed. David G. Redding, our attorney, surgically destroyed every argument and false allegation that the plaintiffs brought against us. With a steady staccato of truth David pierced every false trial balloon they set up and glorified the name of the Lord in the court room. For one hour the spirit of reason and wisdom filled this hallowed room. Truth was no longer stumbling. Justice was being brought to the fore. The entire atmosphere of the court changed and so did the countenance of the judge. Our prayers, your prayers, the prayers of saints across the nation were being answered.
David told me that when he got up to speak, “I felt Him behind me.” My heart began to soar as I watched the Lord Himself plead our case through David. When he had finished and sat down, Mr. Largess frantically tried to speak to the judge. The judge responded that he could present any other requests in writing. Then Mr. Largess pointed out that the TRO would run out on Tuesday morning. The judge said, “There is nothing I can do about that now.”
Praise be to the Lord for friends like you and attorneys like David G. Redding. God is doing miracles as the way is being prepared for your arrival here at the OSA National Event this July 17th thru 24th.
