Yesterday, July 12th, in the year of our Lord 2007, at approximately 9:30am, Ante & Kathy Pavkovic, along with their daughter Christen Sugar, were visiting the senate gallery of the United States Senate in Washington, D.C.  It was during the opening of the session that Rajan Zed, a Hindu clergyman was invited by Senator Harry Reid of Nevada to open in prayer.   A Hindu opening prayer in the United States Senate? 

HOW THE MIGHTY HAVE FALLEN!  Have our elected officials forgotten so quickly the God of our Pilgrim Forefathers, the God of our Founding Fathers, and the God who has blessed America and made her the mightiest nation in the world?  Has Jesus, who made this nation free, been prostrated to the same level as every other religion? 

The events that took place in the Senate chambers yesterday would indicate that the answer is, “YES!”  Well then, what happens when United States senators fail to stand for truth, and bow their knee to the false god of political correctness?  Simple Christian moms and dads, grandmas and grandpas, sons and daughters, must stand up for Jesus! 

Ante and Kathy Pavkovic, and their daughter Christen Sugar, became a gentle and loving rebuke to a nation that has forsaken the God of our fathers.  They rose to their feet to rightly proclaim the one true God – Jesus Christ – the One before Whom every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess.

This simple act of biblical obedience has inspired and encouraged the hearts of hundreds of thousands of Christians across this nation.  It has drawn a line in the sand that will have huge implications for the general election of 2008.  The Christian vote is not for sale.  Republicans you cannot depend upon us.  If you can’t find it in yourself to stand for Christ – we can’t find it in ourselves to vote for you. 

As the Hindu clergyman began his prayer to his false god, Ante rose up.  Bible in hand and held high, he proclaimed, “Lord Jesus, forgive us Father for allowing the prayer of the wicked which is an abomination in Your sight.” The gavel was sounded by Senator Casey who commanded, “The Sergeant at arms will restore order in the Senate. The Sergeant at arms will restore order in the chamber.”

As Ante was being restrained he quoted Psalm 33:12, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord” and the 1st Commandment, “Thou shalt have no other gods before me.” And then closed with, “You are the One true living God.”

Next his wife Kathy stood and quoted John 14:6, “Jesus is the way, the truth and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” She was also restrained by the Sergeant at arms and then their daughter Christen began pleading to God saying, “Father, forgive us for betraying your Son Jesus.”  She was also arrested.

This family became a powerful witness and a prophetic voice for all of us, including the arresting officers and booking officers at the jail.  All of the police officers commented on what a fine family this was.  Our God in heaven is rejoicing!

The falsehood of Hinduism was eloquently challenged yesterday by those who know the truth that sets people free - Jesus.  We pray that their lives will inspire many to do the same and call our nation to repentance and to return to the God of our fathers.  May the hallowed halls and chambers of the Congress of the United States of America never again entertain the false religions of this age.
