Letters
to the Editor Concerning OSA’s Mosque Outreach in Connecticut
Dear
Editor: Christians were there to reach out to our Muslim brothers and sisters with the gospel of Jesus Christ. We peacefully talked to many of them.We gave out hundreds of pieces of literature and the book of Romans in English and Aramaic. Nobody was threatened. There were four cop cars there so if we were doing anything wrong we would have been arrested. We were practicing our first amendment freedom of speech, freedom to distribute literature and freedom to assemble. Something we would not be able to do in a Muslim country. There is not one Christian church in their country but in CT alone there are 100,000 Muslims. So who is intolerant? Let the dialogue begin! Dear
Editor: I am appalled with your reporting of a group of Christians protesting at a local mosque. First of all, the only ones committing acts of violence here and around the world are not "right wing" Christians, but radical Islamists. The staff writer follows the typical liberal "left wing" template of the main street media. The propaganda reflected in this short article "Protesters descent on mosque" is poor excuse for reporting. It just so happened my wife and I were out of town on Friday, but we happen to know these Christians and I will guarantee you not one of them "angrily confronted" the Muslims or screamed "murderers" at children. All you staff writers who are sympathetic to Islam should spend a little time studying the bloody history is Islam. After reading this so called news account, one would think the Christians are violent and the Muslims are the peace loving gentle people. How interesting that the liberal media also expresses such sympathy for a religion that has a bloody and violent history. In fact the first thing that Sharia law will bring to America is the end of the First Amendment and the free press. The first victim of an Islamic state is freedom of any expression. Right now multitudes of Christians are being tortured and imprisoned in Islamic countries around the world. Why doesn’t our crusading liberal press report any of the horrible human rights violations? No instead you try to paint the picture that it is Christians who are the intolerant hate-mongers. The biggest untruth in this article is a statement by one of the parishioners that the Muslims revere Jesus the way Christian do. Nothing could be further from the turth - we believe Jesus is God and they don't. In fact, they believe any convert from Islam to Christianity is worthy of the death penalty. Whatever happened to fair balanced news in this country - it doesn’t exist when it comes to the reporting of anything to do with Christians. Richard
Kendall Stratford,
CT To the editor: I am dismayed by the
Connecticut Post article (“Angry Protesters descend on mosque”) that
misrepresents what happened regarding the outreach by Christians to their
Muslim brothers and sisters! There were no “angry” Christians there,
only concerned people wanting to inform and dialog. Two people were
evangelizing on the sidewalks while others were distributing literature to
passersby at the noisy intersection. No one was pushing signs at anyone.
Certainly no one there was screaming “Jesus hates Muslims”. If the reporters
read any of the literature they would know this isn’t the case. In John 3:16 it
says, “FOR GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD, THAT HE GAVE HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON, THAT
WHOSOEVER BELIEVETH IN HIM SHOULD NOT PERISH, BUT HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE”. The
“world” God loves means everyone (like Muslims)! The reporter failed to note
how there were some Christian and Muslim men who did dialog and ended by
shaking hands and embracing in friendship. The article mentioned one
Muslim gentleman saying, “We revere Jesus the same way they do”. Is this true?
Yes, Islam respects Jesus as a prophet like Moses, but in John 8:58 Jesus
says,” Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I AM!” The
Name for God in Exodus is YAHWEH or I AM. So Jesus is telling us He is God!
Jesus as prophet is not the same as Jesus as God. The great news about Jesus
is what Christians are commanded (in Matthew 28:18-20) to share. When you love
someone, you share great news. In the U.S., for now, we have the right to
share. Isn’t that great? Everyone has free choice to decide whether to accept
or reject Him. A Christian’s job is just to deliver the good news. Nancy Eldredge Monroe Dear
Letter Editor: The
article on protesters descend on mosque was a
one-sided story. Why didn't Daniel Tepfer quote any Christians that
were there? Was he even there? He just wrote his slanted liberal
point of view. "The
Lord hates a false witness who pours out lies." Proverbs 6:19 We live in America and we have freedom of speech and that includes street preaching. I thank God for bold Christians that are courageous enough to lay down their comforts and go out to love their Muslim brothers and sisters. Muslims come here because America is better than their country. The reason for that is because our nation was founded on Judeo/Christian principles from the word of God. Even though we have strayed, America is still the best country in the world. We want Muslims to spend eternity in Heaven with us. Maybe the reason all terrorists are Muslims is because nobody has cared enough to share the salvation message of Jesus Christ with them. He came to share a gospel of life and set people free from the bondage of death. F Zotti Orange
CT I
have included this response so that you can see the lie Christians are being
fed to surrender the battle which we are called to fight: Sister Reba, we pray that you will be brought
into understanding that you must serve the Jesus of the Bible, not the Jesus of
your imagination. RebaR You all are sadly ignorant and I
highly doubt that you even know one Muslim person personally. Muslim's Allah is
the same God as our God, and the same God as people in Mexico call Dios. God is
Allah is Dios is God. America's religious freedom, tolerance and acceptance is
what makes America unique and great... all of this nonsense you are spewing is
hateful and unAmerican. Signed, a conservative Christian.
