This seems to be the question of the hour. My answer may be a little different than you think. If I am to be truthful concerning my thoughts on this question, then I would have to say, “Yes, and obviously, the courts in Charlotte, NC, realize that words are a weapon.” However, words are not the kind of weapon that they described in court.
Dr. Flood is in no danger of Flip taking his life. The officer from the “Domestic Terrorist Department” that has been following Flip since 2003 (hello, who is doing the stalking), should know that, if he has been thorough in doing his job.
Flip has painstakingly had to argue OSA’s position on violence repeatedly because of a handful of people that believed it was their duty to execute justice by taking the lives of abortionists over the past 20 years. What Flip has always taught and still teaches is this – The end never justifies the means. We have been given the ministry of reconciliation. Our job is to be a witness to the truth of God’s Word and in so doing, we pray that the Lord would save those ensnared by the enemy himself within the abortion industry. Flip has met with some that have been on trial for actual violence against abortionist and pleaded with them to repent of their murderous ways. Flip has taught that if he ever saw anyone pull out a gun at the abortion mill with the intent to harm anyone in the abortion industry, that he prays the Lord would give him the grace to step in between the gunman and the target…”greater love has no man than this, that he give up his life for his friends.” (John 15:13)
We have a brochure entitled "Why We Don’t Shoot Abortionist and Blow Up Abortion Mills" stating our position on violence that we have passed out to police departments all over the country when preparing for a national event. Surely, the “Domestic Terrorist Department” has done its job in profiling us, and has a copy of that in their file.
Having said all that, when we live in a day that what is evil is touted as good – then good will be seen as evil. In the day that evil reigns, there is one thing that must be drowned out at all cost – and that thing is, Truth! Truth can only be expressed in words. “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God” Those that believe we should simply live out a godly example to others through our lifestyle, but not preach the Word of God, may have good intentions, but are sorely mislead. I believe our lifestyle should speak – it’s called integrity – but if I don’t lift the name of Jesus, then how am I a witness to the Truth? Muslims, Mormons, and Humanists try to live an outwardly “moral life.” However, that “moral life” is not grounded in the Truth.
It is the Truth that has always gotten people into trouble. Truth, written on paper, seems to especially bring about the ire of whoever is being challenged. I think of Erasmus, as he wrote his satire, “Praise of Folly,” concerning the abuses of the Church that were prevalent in his day. Or, maybe Martin Luther, as he nailed his 95 thesis to the door of the Wittenburg church. Neither man was trying to cause a revolution. Truth had simply welled up in their hearts, and through the prompting of the Holy Spirit, it needed to be expressed in words.
The prophet Jeremiah is another example. God has entrusted Jeremiah with words that he was to speak to a “stiff-necked” people. He was also instructed to write the words on a scroll, which brings into play one of my favorite characters in the Bible – Baruch. Poor Burach was just a scribe who had been brought alongside Jeremiah to record the words of God. At one point, Jeremiah (who was imprisoned because of the Truth of those words) instructs Baruch to take the scroll and read it in the hearing of the princes of Israel. Can’t you just hear the battle inside of Baruch, “Umm, Jeremiah, look, my job is just to write these things down. I am not really interested in being tossed into that prison with you.” I can so relate to him for very obvious reasons!
Which brings me back to Flip’s court case. The fact that we have learned that the officer from the “Domestic Terrorist Department” present in court that day has been working with Dr. Flood for some time to craft charges against Flip, is not surprising. It is simply history repeating itself. Why is so much attention being given to one man who, by the way, is painted by the abortion industry, the news media, and oftentimes the church as ineffectual and obsolete? Maybe it’s because he dares to speak the Truth! Not only does he speak it, but he writes it down and distributes it.
And guess what abortion industry! The fact that you say with your collective mouth that Christians living out their faith in the streets are silly and have no effect on your murderous business is trumped by something else. Sometimes, actions really do speak louder than words, especially when those words are fueled by the devil himself. You would not spend so much time trying to get us Christians off the streets if we were not effective in pushing back the evil deeds of darkness.
So Dr. Flood and all those that work in the monstrous abortion business, please hear me when I say this…you are in no physical danger from those of us that truly love the Lord Jesus with all of hearts. But, we completely understand that you see us as a threat. The Scripture says that Christians will be a sweet aroma to those that are being saved, but we will also be a stench of death to those that are perishing. If we are a stench of death to you – then you are perishing. These are truthful words, written for you. You may successfully bring lawsuits against any number of us, but you will not silence the message. “Why?” you ask. Because it’s not our message – they are the Lord’s words. Do you know that God Himself calls His Word a weapon? He calls it a double-edged sword that cuts between the soul and the spirit and is a discerner of the intent of the heart. You see its God’s Word that is troubling your heart and whether or not you understand this - you need us to continue to pursue you – it’s called love!
We will continue to put forth the words of life. We will continue to encourage others to do the same. The Lord does not desire that any should perish – that includes you! We have a responsibility to speak forth this Truth to you and we love you enough to give everything we own – even our own freedom – to tell you this Truth! Now that love does not come from within our own abilities. It comes from the Holy Spirit of God that lives inside of us and is pursuing you. As long as the Lord can find a willing vessel, He will pursue you with His love and his Word that will bring a stench of death because of the lifestyle (sin) that you have embraced. But ultimately, if you repent and surrender to Him, He will bring you into true life and life abundant.
I am not ashamed of those words that are directed toward you, Dr. Flood, and have now been written down so that you may be reminded that you need to repent of killing children and find the forgiveness and mercy of your Creator – whose name is Jesus.
