Abortion activists set to return to Wichita to mark ‘Summer of Mercy’ anniversary

Protests in 1991 led to nearly 2,700 arrests

Local clinic planning for increased security

National group wants officials to defy Roe vs. Wade

Hundreds of people from around the country are expected to converge in Wichita this summer for a week of anti-abortion rallies, protests and prayer vigils marking the 25th anniversary of the “Summer of Mercy” campaign.

“Some of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen in my life happened right here in Wichita,” said Rusty Thomas, director of Operation Save America, an anti-abortion group based in Waco, Texas.

“What I’m writing in my brochure is: ‘Some of you were there. This is our reunion.’ ”

Operation Save America is a successor to Operation Rescue, whose 46-day “Summer of Mercy” campaign in 1991 resulted in nearly 2,700 arrests as protesters blocked access to clinics where abortions were performed.

This summer, July 16-23, the group plans to partner with local churches to organize protests against abortion. Its agenda includes “street activities” outside South Wind Women’s Center, a clinic operating at George Tiller’s former practice on East Kellogg, Thomas said.

“There’s a proverb that says, ‘We make our plans but God directs our steps,’ ” he said. “We go to these evil places and address that evil and hopefully overcome it and set the captive free.

Julie Burkhart, founder of Trust Women, an abortion-rights nonprofit that established South Wind, said she’s aware of the milestone anniversary and will be “taking security here at the clinic very seriously” during the planned protests.

“Pregnancy is a very personal thing. Whether a woman wants to carry a pregnancy to term and be a parent, or adopt, or have an abortion – those are all things that are a matter of the heart,” Burkhart said.

“So the disruptiveness that they’re going to bring this summer is certainly not welcome because it scares our patients, and they find it intimidating.”

‘Paradigm shift’

Thomas, the Operation Save America official, said the group’s strategy has shifted recently.

This year’s event will include constitutional scholars and guest speakers who argue that Roe vs. Wade, the 1973 U.S. Supreme Court decision that established a constitutional right to abortion, “impugns the law of God” and should be ignored.

“We’re talking about defying it,” Thomas said. “Just flat-out defying it.”

Citing the “doctrine of the lesser magistrate,” a concept in Protestant thought, Thomas said activists are looking for a governor, sheriff or other local official who will disobey the Supreme Court decision outright and order an end to abortion.

“Any human law that directly violates the commandment of God is no law at all,” Thomas said. “You have to have the lesser magistrate to restore law and order, to check the lawlessness that’s coming out of Washington, D.C.

“What we want to produce here is a paradigm shift in how we view government, how we view God, how we view abortion,” Thomas said.

Burkhart, the Trust Women founder, said that strategy “seems like vigilantism and people just wanting to take things into their own hands.”

“I think that leads to potentially very dangerous territory,” she said.

“And whose God are we talking about? Because I think we have a lot of different perspectives and belief systems in this country when it comes to God, so whose God is going to be represented?”

Thomas said local and national anti-abortion activists gathering in Wichita will be a peaceful presence.

“Not only do we not advocate violence, but we’ve been on the forefront of rebuking others who do,” Thomas said. “That’s very important that you understand the spirit in which we come.

“We don’t overcome evil by becoming evil. You don’t become what you’re seeking to end.”

Remembering that summer

The “Summer of Mercy” protests in 1991 targeted Tiller, who performed late-term abortions and other services at his Wichita clinic.

Crowds of protestors showed up each morning at the East Kellogg clinic or other clinics in Wichita and spent hours singing and praying. Occasionally, a patient seeking an abortion would drive toward the clinic and protestors would fling themselves over a police barricade, blocking the entrance by sitting or lying in the street.

Police arrested thousands of protestors for trespassing, putting them in plastic handcuffs and transporting them to jail in vans or buses.

“It was like Old Testament-caliber miracles took place,” said Thomas, who traveled from Florida to Wichita to be part of the 1991 protests.

“I can remember being at Tiller’s gate and people driving by – businesswomen, construction workers – literally being apprehended by the spirit of God, pulling over and saying, ‘I’m on my way to work, but I can’t go. What do you want me to do?’ Then being arrested and being taken to jail, weeping all the way,” he said.

“Something happened in 1991 that began to turn the tide of abortion in America.”

Today, Wichita’s South Wind clinic is the only abortion provider for at least 150 miles in any direction. Nationwide since 2011, at least 162 abortion providers have closed or stopped performing abortions – the swiftest annual decline in the number of abortion providers ever, according to Bloomberg News.

Burkhart is planning to open another clinic in Oklahoma City this summer, which would be the first to open in that state since 1974.

“We have a health care crisis in this part of the country, and we see fewer providers because of the stigma that’s been placed on physicians who provide abortion care,” she said.

Burkhart was home from college on summer break in 1991 and worked as an office assistant at a former abortion clinic at Market and Pine during the protests. She said the experience cemented her convictions.

“Even though I was in favor of a woman’s right to have an abortion, it really solidified that even more for me,” she said. “To walk through that – I definitely have vivid memories.”

She later met and worked for Tiller, the physician at the center of protests who was shot and killed by an anti-abortion protester while attending church in 2009. She considered leaving the abortion-rights movement after Tiller’s death but eventually established Trust Women and opened South Wind in 2013.

“Even though we have all of these obstacles on the books, hoops that women have to jump through … abortion care remains incredibly safe,” Burkhart said. “We want to make sure women continue to have access.”

Political tide

Rob Rotola, senior pastor of Word of Life Church, said his north Wichita church has agreed to be the host site for nightly rallies during this summer’s anti-abortion events.

“The marking of the anniversary is not particularly what’s important to me,” Rotola said. “Just the activity that goes on in exposing what they do at these places and the fact that there are options for women.”

David Gittrich, state development director of Kansans for Life, said the 1991 protests in Wichita brought international attention to the abortion issue and helped turn the tide politically in the state.

“Really what it did was make people think about it,” Gittrich said. “And when people have to think about it rather than just gloss over it or talk about it in the abstract, they have to make up their mind.”

The protests ushered in more conservative state lawmakers and other public officials, Gittrich said. A vast majority of Kansas’ elected officials – 30 out of 40 state senators and 90 out of 125 representatives – claim to be anti-abortion, he said, in addition to the governor and those who hold other statewide offices.

“I think Kansas is pro-life. There aren’t many people who still think abortion is a wonderful thing,” he said.

“I think Kansas is starting to recognize the value of families and recognize the value of children and recognize that this experiment called abortion was horrible and has left many women devastated.

“I think Kansas is becoming a state that loves their families.”

Just like politically we cannot deal with the Progressive, Liberal, Communist Democrats, until we bust up the Republican Establishment, so we cannot vanquish baby murder while the pro-life movement compromises God’s truth to prolong their organizations. Babies are not being murdered so we can raise money and have organizations. We must repent of this mentality. Jesus warned that by our words we will be justified and by our words we will be condemned. Please listen carefully to these recordings. They are GAME CHANGERS.

The man we are confronting (Tony Lauinger, Vice President of National Right to Life) represents the thinking and action that has been used to regulate baby murder, instead of ending it.

Right after this encounter, Pastor Jeff Durbin from Apologia church and radio program called Mr. Lauinger for an interview. It further illuminates the problems with the pro-live movement that fights the battle based upon the premises of God’s enemies.

Political Sermon for 2016 Election Year

I realize this is a lengthy article, but prayerfully worth it. If you find any merit, please pass it on in your sphere of influence. Thanks!

POLITICAL SERMON

I have in my possession a book called the Political Sermons of the American Founding Era. It is a huge volume that begins in 1730 and ends in 1805. The book is chalk full of powerful sermons that cover seventy five years of America’s religious and political history. It demonstrates how much Christianity defined, crafted, guided, and gave birth to America. It reveals to what degree our infant nation relied upon God’s word to forge the liberties that we take for granted today. It teaches to what extent our political and social freedoms were directly entwined with Biblical truth.

A good portion of these sermons were specifically written, distributed, and preached to civil rulers. Men of God of yore believed they were duty-bound to hold civil officials accountable to “Thus saith the Lord!” They were convicted by God’s word to disciple civil rulers and inspire them to fulfill their civil responsibilities as “Ministers of God.” Thus, they challenged public officials to uphold God’s laws, precepts, principles, and commandments as they related to the civil sphere.

Today, if politicians make it to Church it is merely for appearance’s sake or to garner votes for upcoming elections. Very rare indeed is the statesman that comes to church to humble himself before the crown-rights of King Jesus, hear His commands, and accept his spiritual and civil responsibilities. There are two reasons for this sad departure from our rich political and religious legacy. Number one, most pastors don’t possess the theology that includes a Biblical worldview of civil government.

Secondly, they will not touch political sermons with a ten foot pole for fear of mixing religion with politics. Many believe if they did, they would jeopardize their 501(c)(3) tax exempt status. Besides, it is a sermon guaranteed to offend.

On the other hand, most politicians, if they did hear a political sermon, would perhaps grant a pious smile, but would probably decline to apply God’s word in the civil realm. Plus, who among them really possesses the spiritual sense to fear God? How many actually believe they are going to stand before God to give an account as it pertains to their duties as public servants? Many are going to have the shock of their lives come Judgment Day as they chose pragmatism (what works, political expediency) as opposed to God’s principles (what is right) in the sphere of civil government.
Since politics is the never ending news soap opera that inundates the American mind, I thought it proper to recapture the spirit and rich godly heritage of our founding preachers and write a political sermon for today. If rarity determines value, then perhaps it will be appreciated by those who receive it. I will be careful not to hold my breath, however, just in case I‘m wrong in this assessment.

As we approach this controversial topic, it is interesting to first note that most of the titles that God chose to define His authority in earth are political in nature and not ecclesiastical (church related). Yes, God’s word defines Jesus Christ as the “Good Shepherd” and the “Bishop of our souls,” but for the most part the rest of God’s titles are of a governmental nature (1 Peter 2:25). He is known as King, Lord, Ruler, Judge, and Governor of the nations. In fact, the Apostle John, banished on the isle of Patmos and under the boot of Roman oppression and religious tyranny, declared, “And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood (Revelation 1:5).”

The Apostle John, though surrounded by tyrants in both the civil and religious spheres, still declared that Jesus Christ is the Prince of the kings of the earth. Later on in the book of Revelations, John proclaims, our Lord is “Lord of lords and King of kings” (Revelation 17:14). Notice this passage does not assert that Jesus Christ is King of Pastors or the Lord of Bishops.

Most believe these are future titles that He will inherit one day when He returns. Not so, He reigns over all governmental leaders presently. Matthew 28:18 states, “And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.” The words has been denotes past tense. Thus, he is not just our soon coming King, he is King already. This fulfills the Messianic promise of Psalm 2 which prophecies to the rulers of the earth “Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth. Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.”

Most of God’s titles reveal that He is the Sovereign God that rules and reigns in the affairs of men. He sets up kingdoms and He knocks them down. He possesses and dispossess nations according to their obedience or disobedience to His revealed law. He does not have political advisers that He consults in these matters. He is not beholden to any government, party, or political persuasion. We cannot vote Him out or through a military coup overthrow His governmental authority. No! He is the Supreme authority. And for His glory and mankind’s benefit, He has created and established delegated authorities. They include self, family, church, and civil government. All these governments owe their allegiances to Him for they derive their authority from Him (Romans 13:1).

The Apostle Paul speaking of Christ’s position over the earth declared:

For by him (Jesus Christ) were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence (Colossians 1:16-18).

This may shock some, but God expects His Son, our Lord and Savior, to have preeminence in all things. He is not just Lord over some individuals, some families, and the church. He is Lord over all. According to God’s word, there is not one iota of this universe that is beyond Christ’s jurisdiction and all things that concern His preeminence include government, law, and politics. Abraham Kuyper commenting on these truths declared, “Oh, no single piece of our mental world is to be hermetically sealed off from the rest, and there is not a square inch in the whole domain of our human existence over which Christ, who is Sovereign over all, does not cry: “Mine!”

Based upon this unalterable reality, A.A. Hodge (July 18, 1823-November 11, 1886) an American author, lecturer, and theologian at Princeton University stated:

A Christian is just as much under the obligation to obey God’s will in the most secular of his daily business as he is in his closet or at the communion table. He has no right to separate his life into two realms, and acknowledge different moral codes in each…The kingdom of God includes all sides of human life, and it is a kingdom of absolute righteousness. You are either a loyal subject or a traitor. When the king comes, how will he find you doing?

The kingdom of God is one, it cannot be divided…If the Church languishes, the State cannot be in health; and if the State rebels against its Lord and King, the Church cannot enjoy his favor…I charge you, citizens of the United States, afloat on your wide sea of politics, THERE IS ANOTHER KING, ONE JESUS: THE SAFETY OF THE STATE CAN BE SECURED ONLY IN THE WAY OF HUMBLE AND WHOLE-SOULED LOYALTY TO HIS PERSON AND OF OBEDIENCE TO HIS LAW.

Morally, spiritually, politically, and in every other realm, God shouts from the rooftops to this world filled with men with proud hearts that seek to deify and become a law unto themselves that there is another King, one called Jesus! This is the battle that is raging for the souls of men, the lives of our children, and the future of our planet. Acts 17:6,7 states, “And when they found them not, they drew Jason and certain brethren unto the rulers of the city, crying, These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also; Whom Jason hath received: and these all do contrary to the decrees of Caesar, saying that there is another king, one Jesus.” According to this passage of Scripture, the battle comes down to two vital issues. Who is ultimately Lord and whose laws are to govern in the affairs of men? Will it be Almighty God or Caesar? Will it be the flawed laws of men, which in many cases legalize evil, or the holy, righteous laws of God that protect the liberty Christ died to secure for the sons of men.

Notice that the accusation against the early church that turned the world upside down was not “there is another Savior and He has a wonderful plan for your life.” No, the early Church suffered great persecution and martyrdom because the revelation of the King and the laws of His Kingdom that burned bright through their lives. This was a clear and present danger to the political tyrants and religious oppressors of their day.

We must understand that Rome was not threatened religiously by this new sect called Christianity. They were threatened politically. There was religious freedom under Roman occupation. You could worship the god of your choice. Every land, nation, and tribe that Rome conquered, however, was required to speak a loyalty oath to Caesar. Caesar demanded that every knee bow and every tongue confess that he was Lord. It was a full manifestation of emperor cult worship that flourished under pagan rule.

Apparently, the Jews of the day submitted to this idolatry and heresy. Though the Jews were still free to worship Jehovah in the temple, once they left the temple, they were forced to confess Caesar is Lord! Did they do so willingly? God’s word testifies that they did, especially when it came to the revelation of the Kingship of Jesus Christ. John 19:15 states, “But they cried out, away with him, away with him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Shall I crucify your King? The chief priests answered, “We have no king but Caesar.”

Man is still faced with this choice today. If Jesus is not the rightful Sovereign and King, then men are left with two failed options. The state is therefore king, which has led historically to unprecedented murderous regimes that crushed the people they claimed to serve, or the individual is sovereign which inevitably leads to chaos, confusion, and anarchy. Only One Nation under God can secure the delicate tension between authority and liberty. Only One Nation under God can provide a proper social order on one hand with maximum individual freedom on the other hand. There is no other worldview or faith that can accomplish this in our poor, fallen world.

Christians historically knew these truths, believed them, and acted upon them. I wish I could say the same for the modern church, but I cannot. Our Christian forefathers and mothers knew there was only one Lord and King and it certainly wasn’t Caesar. Thus, when confronted with this same tyrannical dilemma and Caesar’s demand to affirm the loyalty oath, Rome was dismayed to find a little band of nobodies resist this idolatry. Many Christians suffered horrible deaths, watched their children devoured by beasts, and yet sang praises to their King as they courageously faced the worse that Satan and demonically inspired rulers could afflict upon them. Ultimately, their sacrifice changed the course of history.
Since then, the Christian faith has served to decentralize power and place checks and balances upon governmental authorities. Based upon the revelation that man is sinful and that power corrupts, Christian nations overthrew the pagan notion and doctrine of the so-called “divine rights of kings.” It is this heritage that has provided the freedoms, liberties, and blessings that stand in jeopardy in our day.

Next, we will turn our attention to the Biblical criteria that God’s word prescribes for civil rulers. Just like there are Biblical requirements for Church leadership, there are also Biblical requirements for those who would aspire to hold civil office. Exodus 18:21 states, “Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens.” This model of governmental leadership reveals that Israel was a Hebrew Republic. It consisted of a representative government similar to our own.

Notice the caliber of men and the characteristics demanded by God for those who would dare to serve in civil government. We take these requirements lightly today. But when one considers the dangerous world we live in and the threats that surround America, should we neglect God’s model for leadership? Our nation is suffering moral rot from within (abortion, homosexuality, pornography etc.) and our enemies without (Islam, Communism) smell our vulnerabilities and the weakness of our moral fortitude. This emboldens them while our nation’s leaders serve to empower themselves at the expense of our nation’s welfare. Doesn’t our current crisis cry for leaders that God’s word insists upon? King David stated, “The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spake to me, He that ruleth over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God ( 2 Samuel 23:3).”

Our Founding Fathers understood these truths and the need for godly, principled leadership. George Washington stated, “It is impossible to rightly govern the world without God and the Bible.” John Jay, first Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, on October 12, 1816 stated, “Providence has given to our people the choice of their rulers, and it is the duty, as well as the privilege and interest of our Christian nation to select and prefer Christians for their rulers.”

Noah Webster, the father of American Education, in 1823, wrote an article entitled, “Letters to a Young Gentleman Commencing His Education.” It was published in New Haven, CT. He wrote:

In selecting men for office, let principle be your guide….It is alleged by men of loose principles, or defective views of the subject, that religion and morality are not necessary or important qualifications for political stations. But the Scriptures teach a different doctrine. They direct that rulers should be men who rule in the fear of God, able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness. But if we had no divine instruction on the subject, our own interest would demand of us a strict observance of the principle of these injunctions. And it is to the neglect of this rule of conduct in our citizens, that we must ascribe the multiplied frauds, breeches of trust, peculations and embezzlements of public property which astonish even ourselves; which tarnish the character of our country; which disgrace a republican government; and which will tend to reconcile men to monarchs in other countries and even our own…When a citizen gives his suffrage [vote] to a man of known immorality, he abuses his trust; he sacrifices not only his own interest, but that of his neighbor, and he betrays the interest of his country.

Noah Webster promoted God’s principles as a primary consideration in choosing elected officials. Political party associations had to be a secondary consideration. The reason for this assessment centered on the fact that Noah Webster was Biblically literate. He recognized as many of our founding fathers that “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people (Proverbs 14:34).” They firmly believed, “When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn (Proverbs 29:2).”

The sobering truth is that God judges and restores nations based upon its leaders. If our sayings and doings are against the Lord, He turns us over to weak, inept, and wicked rulers (Isaiah 3). If we cry out in repentance, seek His face, and turn from our wicked ways, He will raise up godly men who will drive out evil, establish righteousness, and bring healing to our land. The book of Judges reveal this pattern time and time again.

As we look on the horizon and contemplate the precarious future of America, we need to consider what is at stake. There are many challenges that literally call into question our ability to survive as a nation. From the study of history, however, it is clear that God moves history forward by working through His covenant people. It is vital, therefore, that we recognize our spiritual and civic duties before God. We must give Him a reason to show mercy to our nation that stands at the precipice of God’s greater judgments.
It is imperative that we pray, believe, and work to reform ourselves, the family, the church, our culture, and government. In the arena of our civic duty, 2016 elections are coming. Howard Phillips stated, “In politics, your vote is the currency of your virtue.”

Surely, every Christian needs to be registered, exercise their civic duty, and vote. We must use God’s word, his principles, and become informed voters. Beyond that, the Church needs to expand our limited vision and begin to train godly statesmen that are steeped in a Biblical worldview, have a firm grasp of history, and send them forth into the civic sphere. How can we prefer Christian rulers, if no Christians will run for public office? Surely, out of all the millions of professing born-again Christians in America, the church could produce congressmen, senators, judges, mayors, governors, and the like.

Historically, the church in America produced godly statesmen. Since then, we have lost our way. Case in point is John Witherspoon (February 5, 1723-November 15, 1794). William Federer, author of God and Country, records the following concerning Rev. Witherspoon:

He was an American Revolutionary patriot and clergyman. He was born in Scotland, being a descendant of John Knox on his mother’s side, John Witherspoon’s influence as an educator was widely felt in America. He signed the Declaration of Independence and was a member of the Continental Congress. He was a primary proponent of separation of powers insisting on inclusions to check and balance the power of government. He served on over 120 Congressional committees, including: the Board of War, the Committee on Secret Correspondence, or Foreign Affairs, and the Committee on Clothing for the Army.

As president of Princeton University, 1768-94, he graduated 478 students who directly shaped America, including: James Madison, who served eight years as Secretary of State and eight years as U.S. President; Aaron Burr, Jr., who was a U.S. Vice-President; 3 U.S. Supreme Court justices; 10 Cabinet members; 13 state governors; 21 U.S. Senators; 39 U.S. Representatives; and 114 ministers. Through his students, John Witherspoon’s views were reflected in our Constitution, as 9 (one-sixth) of the 55 delegates to the Constitutional Convention were graduates of Princeton University: Gunning Bedford Jr. of Delaware; David Brearley of New Jersey; William Richardson Davie of North Carolina; Jonathan Dayton of New Jersey; William Churchill Houston of New Jersey; James Madison of Virginia; Alexander Martin of North Carolina; Luther Martin of Maryland; and William Paterson of New Jersey.

On May 17, 1776, the same day the Continental Congress declared a National Day of Fasting, Humiliation and Prayer, Reverend John Witherspoon delivered a sermon at Princeton University entitled ‘The Dominion of Providence over the Passions of Men,’ in which he stated:

While we give praise to God, the Supreme Disposer of all events, for His interposition on our behalf, let us guard against the dangerous error of trusting in, or boasting of, an arm of flesh….If your cause is just, if your principles are pure, and if your conduct is prudent, you need not fear the multitude of opposing hosts.
What follows from this? That he is the best friend to American liberty, who is most sincere and active in promoting true and undefiled religion, and who sets himself with the greatest firmness to bear down profanity and immorality of every kind. Whoever is an avowed enemy of God, I scruple not to call him an enemy of his country.

It is in the man of piety and inward principle, that we may expect to find the uncorrupted patriot, the useful citizen, and the invincible soldier. – God grant that in America true religion and civil liberty may be inseparable and that the unjust attempts to destroy the one, may in the issue tend to the support and establishment of both.”

This was one faithful pastor who exercised tremendous godly influence upon the formation of our civil government in America. He is dead and it is our turn now. Let us seek to reclaim the rich, godly heritage Rev. Witherspoon and others like him, have bequeathed to us, his posterity. If not now, then when? Our nation is being tossed upon the raging seas of political, moral, and spiritual turmoil. We are facing extreme challenges. This is not new to our history. The only difference is we do not possess the theology, faith, worldview, moral fortitude, and the spiritual resources that sustained our nation through the wars, threats, and dangers previously faced by our forefathers and mothers. It is time for the church to step up and provide these much needed resources in our day. Future generations will either curse or bless our memory based upon how we respond to God and our nation’s need in this desperate hour. Let us not fail in our sacred, moral, spiritual, and civil responsibilities in Jesus’ Mighty and Holy name!

Mark Pody obeyed His Lord and presented his bill of interposition and nullification to the Civil Justice subcommittee today. Christians packed the hearing room and the hallways. About 15-20 supporting homosexual marriage showed up as well. Though the committee was gracious and allowed a hearing, it was a foregone conclusion to the matter. Four out of the five killed the bill in committee.

They brought in an influential pro-family Christian man who helped to pass the Tennessee amendment to their constitution that defined marriage as one man and one woman. His purpose, it seemed to me, was to run the political interference necessary to derail the bill. This same man had included in the language of the amendment back in 2006 that this would be the law in Tennessee regardless of any future court rulings. Even though that is the law he helped to establish, he had concerns that their might be a price to pay to defend it. God forbid! In fact, one committee member said that he did not want to be a martyr. How silly would it be to follow our Lord’s example and die for what we believe?

Most of them seemed to be against the Supreme Court decision that unleashed homosexual marriage upon us, but thought that a different strategy or methodology was needed. So, it looks like they are going to file two lawsuits tomorrow in the courts to try preserve marriage in the state of Tennessee.

Are you kidding me? Is it wisdom to go back to the courts that has been the exposed area for decades that Satan has exploited to unleash hell upon our nation? Is it a prudent course to pursue justice from the one system of government that has proven time and again to render injustice, corruption, tyranny, and lawlessness? This is nothing more than chickens once again running to the fox in hopes of finding protection from the wolves.

Some on the committee thought interposition and nullification were nothing more than anarchy, rebellion, and lawlessness. They stated that our a nation was a country governed by law, we do not want to be ruled by men. Agreed, but they did not seem to understand, it is Washington DC that has dispensed with our laws and we are now being ruled by the political whims of men. Interposition and nullification are not the source of anarchy, rebellion, and lawlessness, they are the solution to end these wicked maladies.

At some point, however, even if these lawsuits work, they will still have to be defended. By what means shall they be defended? By the very means they rejected today, interposition and nullification.

OSA’s National Press Release for Roe vs. Wade. Special thanks to Mike Warren for providing the basis of this message.

WACO, Texas, Jan. 21, 2016 /Christian Newswire/ — Listen to the concerns of 21st century Americans! Terror, Islamic Jihadists, Illegal Immigration, Out of Control Federal and State Governments, Economic Collapse, loss of retirement funds. But what’s on God’s heart? What is the real danger facing the home of the brave land of the free?

It is God Himself. He will not be mocked! What men and nations sow, they shall surely reap. We have sowed domestic terrorism in the womb and now face foreign terrorism from without.

Our nation is staggering under the weight of blood guiltiness. We have poured out gallons; hundreds and thousands of gallons throughout the streets and sewers of America. Nearly 60 million children made in the image of God have been slaughtered in our “legal” and federally protected abortion mills.

Even the gruesome videos of Planned Parenthood executives making light and laughing over the horror of selling little babies’ body parts has made nary a ripple in the lakes of innocent blood that has been shed.

Abortion is not political, social or economic issue. It is a Gospel/Kingdom issue. It is the ancient evil of child sacrifice that is dressed up as a women’s right to choose. Since 1973, our nation has accumulated a great debt of blood guilt and the bill is past due. Our national sin has brought national calamity.

Is there any hope? Yes, it is found in the Lord we have spurned, His law that we have violated, and His salvation we have rejected to our own demise. 2 Chronicles 7:14 declares, “if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”

If we meet God’s conditions, He will heal our land. If not, we will go the way of every other nation that murdered their babies and paraded their sin like Sodom.

Go Chief Justice Roy Moore!!! The Lesser Magistrate Doctrine is gaining traction. Thank the Lord for godly statesmen that have the courage and moral fortitude to say no to the Federal beast!

In what is a growing movement of state interposition against federal judicial tyranny, the Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore today issued an order directing probate judges not to issue marriage licenses to homosexuals. The order states:

IT IS ORDERED AND DIRECTED THAT:

Until further decision by the Alabama Supreme Court, the existing orders of the Alabama Supreme Court that Alabama probate judges have a ministerial duty not to issue any marriage license contrary to the Alabama Sanctity of Marriage Amendment or the Alabama Marriage Protection Act remain in full force and effect.

In the three pages leading up to the order, Justice Moore points to a recent ruling by the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit in Nebraska which ruled that Obergefell did not directly invalidate the marriage laws of states under its jurisdiction. The Eighth Circuit rejected the Nebraska defendants’ suggestion that Obergefell mooted the case.

Let the Gentle Revolution continue in earnest my friends! Keep pressing on to the high calling and prize in Jesus’ name!

On Friday we are meeting with the Governor’s office in Texas to establish the Lesser Magistrate doctrine right here in my home state of Texas. Please take the time to fast, pray, and get to work spreading the vision and mission.

To the OSA saints that participated in our States of Refuge campaign last year, look what the Lord has done. Perhaps, Missouri may become the first, surgical, abortion free state in America. Keep pressing on saints in faith, trusting the Lord will watch over His Word to perform it. The gates of hell will not prevail.

This is the report from Lifenews.com.

On Monday, December 21st, I had the honor to be interviewed by Jesse Lee Peterson, an old friend in the battle. The Lord has increased the platform for Jesse, which he used to promote our new national campaign to Rally the Lesser Magistrate.

Jesse promoted the books, The Doctrine of the Lesser Magistrate and The Magdeburg Confession, along with the websites lessermagistrate.com and courtscannotmakelaws.com

Here is the link to listen. If you find any merit, please pass it on in your sphere of influence. Thanks and Merry Christmas!
