Conference Registration is Still Open…

There is still time to Register for the Abolish Abortion Oklahoma Conference on February 11th-13th. Come hear from Dan Fisher, Sen. Joseph Silk, Megan Ladd, T. Russell Hunter, John Michener, Jeff Durbin, Randy Brogden, Rusty Thomas, Ken Valencia Peters, and other abolitionists leading the way in the battle against abortion today.

If you are new to the Abolitionist Movement, this conference will be incredibly informative and life changing.

ALSO! We want you to come regardless of whether or not you are able to pay the registration fee. Those paying the registration fee are making this conference and The Rally to Support SB13 at the Capitol possible (and they will receive an official SB13 T-Shirt, pamphlets, and drop cards), but we will not turn away anyone who would like to attend this conference in full or any of the evening sessions who cannot afford to register.

We want people to come get the training they need so that they can best support and lobby for SB13 and the Abolition of Abortion.

Here is a basic schedule of the Conference in relation to the Rally at the Capitol on February 12th.

We hope to see you in Guthrie, Oklahoma on February 11th at 6pm when we kick off the 2019 Abolish Abortion Oklahoma Conference.

70,000 petitions delivered. As promised.

On Monday, we held a press conference at the Capitol in Austin with the Thomas family. A few members of the press were in attendance and we received some good coverage from the Austin American-Statesman.

Keep reading to the end to find video recordings from the event.

After the press conference, we gathered in the rotunda. With only 5 days notice, we had over 200 people join us (more arrived after this picture) and support us as we delivered the Jeremiah’s Wish petitions. We sang hymns and passed out literature to those gathered to listen to us sing.

At 3:30, we lifted up the 15 boxes (2 more arrived after that picture) and marched about 70,000 printed petitions to the governor’s public office where we delivered them.

It was a good day. But there was more to come the next day.

Will the Governor act?

On Tuesday, we attended Governor Abbott’s State of the State address and sat in silence as we listened to the governor. It was our hope that he would hear your voice and that it would remind him of his promise to a dying young Jeremiah Thomas.

We were disappointed, however.

In the governor’s 45 minute speech, he uttered not one word about abortion or saving preborn children. He said nothing of the over 55,000 children that are murdered via abortion in our state every year. He was completely silent on the issue of life.

His silence was deafening.

While the governor of New York is leading his state in the unadulterated murder of the preborn, the governor of “the most powerful state in the union”, as Governor Abbott told us in his address, is leading Texas by ignoring and refusing to intervene for the most vulnerable among us.

Governor Abbott has taken no meaningful action to keep the promise he made to Jeremiah Thomas.

One wonders if the governor really believes we are the most powerful state in the union, if he refuses to do his duty and protect the lives of the preborn. If not now, then when?

Trust not in Princes (or Governors)

But we have not lost faith. And we shouldn’t! We have not put our faith in Governor Abbott or any other government official, as the Psalmist says in Psalm 146:

Put not your trust in princes, in a son of man, in whom there is no salvation… blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the LORD his God, who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, who keeps faith forever; who executes justice for the oppressed, who gives food to the hungry… he upholds the widow and the fatherless, but the way of the wicked he brings to ruin.

Our faith is in God. We know He uses all things for our good. We know that if God’s not doing what we want Him to, then He has something better in mind. It is God who executes justice for the oppressed.

The Legislature IS acting:

But, despite the Governor’s inaction, the legislature is refusing to stay silent.

State Representative Tony Tinderholt from House District 94, a retired U.S. Army Major, has filed a bill. This bill is anything but silent on the issue of abortion.

This bill, HB 896, calls for a complete ban on abortions in Texas in defiance of the unconstitutional Roe vs. Wade court opinion.

It seeks to reverse the exemptions to special classes of people that remove criminal liabilities for murder of the preborn. It seeks equal protection under the law for those who cannot speak for themselves. In short, it seeks to establish justice.

Micah 6:8 He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?

Isaiah 1:17 learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow’s cause.

We need your help

I must be frank. We are trying to build an army of volunteers to support the outlawing of abortion in Texas. And building that army takes lots of time and lots of money.

Our elected officials need us to give them the courage to act. And that’s why we started Abolish Abortion Texas.

We raised over $60,000 from over 1100 separate people in 39 days to help fund the Jeremiah’s Wish campaign. And we put every single dollar of that money into reaching more people. The petition count is over 77,500 petitions as of today.

Here’s what we need…

1) We need to get co-authors on the bill. Please call your Texas state representatives and urge them to support HB 896.

2) We need to fund the effort to promote and support HB 896. Please give to help us push this bill this session.

Any amount helps. If everyone who signed the petition gave just $1 we could make some lasting impacts this session.

3) Continue to pray. Pray that we are faithful to call upon our elected officials to obey God not man.

With God on our side, who can be against us?

For life, for liberty, for Texas, and for our King,

Wes Thomas

A brief reaction video recorded directly after the Governor’s State of the State address:

https://www.facebook.com/AbolishAbortionTexas/videos/227068121580406/

Yesterday was incredible. We conducted a press conference about 2:30 PM. The press room was packed with eager saints and some media. Prior to the press conference, we sang hymns of praise to the Lord and prayed for His intervention in this righteous and just cause to abolish abortion in the Lone Star state.

At the press conference, the Jeremiah’s Wish campaign and mission was articulated through Wesley Thomas, Bradley Pierce, Kendra Thomas and I. A newspaper, the Statesman, in Austin picked up the story and published it soon afterwards.

After the press conference, Christians, families, and abolitionists (A couple hundred strong) proceeded to the Rotunda to continue to life up the name of the Lord as we unashamedly worshipped him in Spirit and in truth. His praise resounded throughout the Capitol. It was glorious.

Marching orders were given and then I shared a brief testimony on how God got a hold of Jeremiah and used him to further the cause to outlaw abortion altogether in the state of Texas and charged the youth to follow his example.

The next adventure was to march up to the Governor’s office to deliver over 70,000 signed petitions. Men carrying box after box dropped them off to the delight of God’s people and perhaps a challenge to the Governor’s office.

We also learned yesterday that the Governor’s staff will meet with us soon to further discuss with us the Gov.’s promise that he made to Jeremiah. Please keep this as a prayer priority.

The last venue brought us to the House while they were in session. To our surprise, Tony Tinderholt, who previously sponsored a bill of abolition in Texas and is currently sponsoring another one, acknowledged the entourage filling the gallery.

This is the same representative that wrote a powerful State Resolution honoring Jeremiah’s courage in the face of extreme difficulty and his selfless devotion on the behalf of the little ones made in God’s image.

Tinderholt spoke briefly of his new bill, the 70,000 petitions delivered to the Governor, and acknowledged Kendra and I as Jeremiah’s parents. It was a little surreal.

Today, God willing, we are going back to the Capitol for Governor Abbott’s State of the State address. We are praying he will find the courage to present his promise to outlaw abortion as a legislative priority this emergency session.

It will take a lot of courage and political will to do this, but the king’s heart is in the Lord’s hand. Please pray saints and keep pressing on to the high calling and prize in Jesus’ name!

Jeremiah's Wish Petition Delivery Press Conference - ~70,000 Petitions

Posted by Abolish Abortion Texas on Monday, February 4, 2019

This is the video of the Historic Press conference at the Texas State Capitol promoting Jeremiah’s wish campaign to outlaw abortion. Afterwards, over 70,000 signed petitions were marched up and dropped off the the Governor’s office. Please pray the Lord move upon his heart to not only keep his promise to our son, Jeremiah Thomas, but more importantly, to do his duty before God to establish justice in the gates of the Lone Star state.

https://www.facebook.com/rusty.thomas.7/videos/10205951820872788/

I have two big announcements to make.

First, we are closing in fast on our goal of getting 50,000 petitions to deliver to Governor Abbott.

When this petition started just 35 days ago, we only dreamed of getting to 50,000!

We knew it would take a lot of time and money–money we didn’t have yet–to get the word out.

But by the grace of God and with your help, it has happened! THANK YOU!

As you already know, the petition you signed encourages Governor Abbott to keep his promise to Jeremiah by declaring outlawing abortion to be an emergency item for the legislature during Governor Abbott’s State of the State speech.

Which brings me to my second announcement . . .

We just found out that Governor Abbott is scheduled to make his State of the State speech on Tuesday morning!

That’s just five days away!

We have not yet heard whether he will be making outlawing abortion a priority item for Texas, so we need to keep working . . . FAST.

Some of you have been asking whether we have requested a personal meeting with Governor Abbott. Yes, we have. His staff has been gracious and we hope to have that meeting as soon as they let us know.

While we look forward to that, can I ask you to do three things?

First, please call Governor Abbott’s office at (512) 463-1782 and politely request that he make outlawing abortion an emergency item during his State of the State speech. Be sure to let them know you are from Texas.

If you need help with what to say, here is a suggestion: “My name is __________, I am a Texan, and I would like to respectfully request that, during his State of the State speech on Tuesday, Governor Abbott would declare outlawing abortion to be an emergency item.”

If more than 55,000 innocent children every year being murdered by abortion in this state is not an emergency, then I don’t know what is.

So can you call Governor Abbott’s office right now at (512) 463-1782 and politely make that request? Thanks!

Second, we are busily preparing the huge boxes of your petitions to get them ready to deliver to Governor Abbott on Monday (the day before his speech).

We would love to have your help to deliver your 48,602 petitions (and counting!).

On Monday, we will be holding a press conference in the Capitol around 2:30 PM, followed by a brief rally in the Capitol Rotunda. Then we will be marching (on foot and by elevator) up one floor to deliver what we expect to be over 50,000 petitions to Governor Abbott’s office.

You’ve already done so much and I know it’s short not, but if you can make it, we would love to have you come to show the Capitol some of the faces of the Texans who are committed to standing with Governor Abbott in keeping his promise to grant Jeremiah’s wish.

Finally, can I ask you to pray for Governor Abbott?
Psalm 146:3 tells us not to put our trusts in princes (or governors), and we don’t.

We trust in God because, among other things, “The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord” (Proverbs 29:1).

Like Proverbs 29:26 says, “Many seek the ruler’s favor, but justice for man comes from the Lord.”

But God also tells us to pray for “kings and all who are in authority” (1 Timothy 2:2).

So can I ask to pray for Governor Abbott right now?
Thank you!

And remember, (1) please call Governor Abbott’s office at (512) 463-1782 and politely request that he make outlawing abortion an emergency item during his State of the State speech; (2) please come to Austin if you can; and (3) please pray for Governor Abbott, and pray for God to have mercy and abolish abortion in this state.
For His glory!

P.S. We’re almost to 50,000 petitions and Governor Abbott’s State of the State speech is on Tuesday! Please call Governor Abbott’s office at ‭(512) 463-1782 and politely request that he make outlawing abortion an emergency item during his speech. If you can, please come to Austin on Monday afternoon to help us deliver the petitions. Finally, please pray for Governor Abbott, and pray for God to have mercy and abolish abortion in this state. Thank you!

We just officially released our new book at our OSA Leadership Meeting in Jackson, MS. Today, we are working to get it published online with what is called KDP. It was formerly called Create Space. Soon, it should be made available to order online as paperback or Kindle.

Here is the description to promote the book at KDP:

The God ordained family is the building block of a sound and just society. As goes the family, so goes the nation. In recent years, the American family hassuffered major setbacks and continual blows from iniquitous governmental decrees along with a hearty amen from an immoral culture.

Governments opposed to God have always incorporated sexual immorality to pacify citizens to gain more control over their fleeting lives. Every good statist (Those who promote the state as god) knows to gain more power, they must of necessity weaken the family. This godless agenda is one of the major reasons why America is swiftly moving from a free nation to a socialist nation under our watch.

Seeing the writing on the wall, Rev. Rusty Lee Thomas, in his new book, Raising Godly Children in a Godless Age, issues a clarion call to those who have eyes to see and ears to hear. The call is to consciously come back to the God of the Bible and rebuild our families on the solid foundation of His Word.

Our nation is out of order and is spinning out of control. The sexual confusion plaguing our young is directly tied to feminization of masculinity and the masculinization of femininity. By laying a strong foundation of theology and Biblical doctrine, Rev. Thomas provides the practical helps necessary for families to Raise Godly Children in a Godless Age.

To those who would like to order from us, please sned your address and I’ll ship it out to you right away.

The perfect storm is gathering in Texas. An abolition bill has just been filed by the State Representative that honored Jeremiah’s courage in the midst of great adversity in a Texas State Resolution.

This brother is working with others to get co-sponsors of the bill and is seeking to meet with the Governor to remind him of his promise to Jeremiah Thomas

We need to pray that this bill would be included in the emergency session that unveils the Governor’ priorities this legislative session.

We now have the bill and the promise, All we need now is a surge of citizens in Texas and our nation to provide the encouragement these magistrates need to outlaw abortion altogether in the Lone Star State.

If you have not done so, would you please go to www.jeremiahswish.org, sign the petition, make a donation, and spread this window of opportunity to others with all dispatch. Thank you!

Americans nationwide are calling upon Texas governor Greg Abbott to keep his promise to a teenager who died of cancer in August, who asked Abbott as his dying wish to work to outlaw abortion in the Lone Star State.

“For my wish, I wanted to talk to you and discuss a bill of abolition,” 16-year-old Jeremiah Thomas, who was diagnosed with osteoblastic osteosarcoma, told Abbott on the phone last June from his hospital room at McLane Children’s Hospital. “[W]e want you to treat abortion like an act of murder that should be punished by law.”

“I know that it must be difficult standing against a whole federal beast that forces abortion on us, but I think that we … could end abortion here and now,” he said.

Abbott’s response made Thomas smile. He noted that the Texas Republican party platform expresses a desire to abolish abortion, and that lawmakers planned on putting forward a bill that would make abortion illegal in the state.

“Your wish is on the Republican party platform and it’s what we’re going to be pursuing this next legislative session—that’s to outlaw abortion altogether in the state of Texas,” he told Thomas, the recording of which was posted to social media. “And so, your wish has been granted.”

The legislation referenced by Abbott is that of Rep. Tony Tinderholt, R-Arlington, who similarly presented a bill in 2017 to abolish abortion, but it was stalled by the speaker of the House. Tinderholt has re-filed his bill for the 2019 legislative season.

Tinderholt told reporters upon first filing the measure that the bill is in response to language in the Texas Republican Party platform, which was passed in May 2016, calling for the complete abolition of abortion in the state.

“We call upon the Texas legislature to enact legislation stopping the murder of unborn children; and to ignore and refuse to enforce any and all federal statutes, regulations, executive orders, and court rulings, which would deprive an unborn child of the right to life,” the platform text reads.

Now that the Abolition of Abortion in Texas Act, House Bill 948, has again been put forward and the legislature is back in session, a campaign has been launched to hold Abbott to his promise.

Matt Trewhella of Missionaries to the Preborn and pastor of Mercy Seat Christian Church in Milwaukee, Wisconsin told Christian News Network that the time is right to press Abbott to take a stand for the preborn.

“This whole thing that the GOP politicians and pro-life, pro-family groups have been doing for years of trying to regulate the murder of the preborn needs to stop,” he stated. “Rather they need to say, ‘State magistrates, do your duty and stop this murder in our state.’”

“Gov. Abbott can use his influence behind the scenes regarding this bill of interposition and abolition of the murder of the preborn,” Trewhella explained. “We’re hoping that he will use his influence behind the scenes so that the bill does get a full hearing before the legislature, and we’re hopeful that it will pass and that he will sign it.”

               Pastor Matt Trewhella

Trewhella, the author of “The Doctrine of the Lesser Magistrates,” outlined that today’s civil leaders must return to the concept of interposition—that is, to stand in the gap whenever those of greater power issue decrees that are evil and conflict with the law of God.

“Western civilization has always stood upon the needed premise that divine law trumps human law [and] that unjust laws are no laws at all,” he stated, adding that the Supreme Court ruling of Roe v. Wade is “not even a law,” but an opinion.

Trewhella further pointed to the words of the words of Thomas Jefferson, who wrote a letter to William Jarvis in 1820 to express concern about the inordinate weight of authority and infallibility presumed to belong to the nation’s judges.

“You seem … to consider the judges as the ultimate arbiters of all constitutional questions; a very dangerous doctrine indeed and one which would place us under the despotism of an Oligarchy,” Jefferson wrote. “… The Constitution has erected no such single tribunal knowing that, to whatever hands confided, with the corruptions of time and party it’s members would become despots. It has more wisely made all the departments co-equal and co-sovereign within themselves.”

Trewhella explained that such is why the founders created multiple levels and branches of government, so that “if any one branch began to play the tyrant, even if it was the Supreme Court itself, all of the branches would interpose against the tyrant in order to reign in their tyranny.”

He lamented that no civil magistrates seem to be taking a stand in modern times.

“Do we think we can fill the nation with innocent blood and escape the righteous judgment of God?” Trewhella asked. “The interposition of the just magistrate or magistrates may possibly abate the just judgment of God, but none has come forth—not one governor, not one attorney general, not one legislature, not one mayor, not one city council.”

“46 years now of brutal bloodshed of the most helpless, and all these lesser magistrates have done is quibble and falsely lament how they must obey the Supreme Court. And such thinking as that stands in utter contradiction to Scripture and utter contradiction to the whole history of western civilization,” he added.

                        Gov. Mary Fallin

While it is not known where Gov. Abbott stands in regard to interposition and his view of the Supreme Court, other Republican governors who identify as pro-life have rejected challenges to Roe because they feel that the effort is futile.

As previously reported, in 2016, then-Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin, a Republican who identified herself as “the most pro-life governor in the nation,” vetoed a bill that would have outlawed abortion in the state, opining that the issue of abortion has to be dealt with in the nation’s highest court, and that the legislation would not “accomplish that re-examination.”

“In fact, the most direct path to a re-examination of the United States Supreme Court’s ruling in Roe v. Wade is the appointment of a conservative, pro-life justice to the United States Supreme Court,” she remarked in her veto message.

And while it would not have outlawed abortion altogether, Republican Ohio Gov. John Kasich has now twice vetoed a bill that would ban abortion whenever a heartbeat is detected, stating that such a law would not hold up in court and the state would end up paying thousands in legal fees to Planned Parenthood. He similarly expressed the mindset that he felt bound to the Supreme Court.

Kasich Photo Credit: Gage Skidmore

“As governor, I have worked hard to strengthen Ohio’s protections for the sanctity of human life, and I have a deep respect for my fellow members of the pro-life community and their ongoing efforts in defense of unborn life,” Kasich wrote in his veto explanation. “However, the central provision of H.B. 258, that an abortion cannot be performed if a heartbeat has been detected in the unborn child, is contrary to the Supreme Court rulings on abortion.”

“This is why we need to call upon [Gov. Abbott] to be different,” Trewhella said. “The GOP politicians and the pro-life, pro-family groups have been following the Roe paradigm for 46 years now. In other words, [they are] acting like they have to obey the Roe v. Wade issued by the court in 1973. And so everything they do goes back to the court, and the court is the tyrant that started this bloodshed.”

“What we’re saying here is, and what Rep. Tinderholt’s bill does—it says, we’re going to ignore the Roe v. Wade opinion, we are going to ignore the Supreme Court, we are not going to obey this evil that they have foisted upon the land,” he outlined. “And this is what our founders expected to happen, because our founders established a true federalism.”

As previously reported, in 2017, as the State of Texas had been sued surrounding a law that required aborted babies to either be buried or cremated—which could have shut down a number of abortion facilities that were not able to comply, whether financially or due to a lack of business cooperation—Assistant Attorney General John Langley surprisingly told U.S. District Judge Sam Sparks in court that “fetal tissue is not human remains” under Texas law.

“So it’s the official doctrine of the state that fetal tissue is not human remains?” Sparks inquired. “So you’re bringing dignity to non-human remains?”

“[Texas cremation law] deals with human bodies—bodies that have been born, lived and died. Fetal remains are categorized as pathological waste. It’s not a human body. It hasn’t been born,” Langley later stated. “It’s the state’s best effort to try to make the best of this situation.”

It is concerning remarks like these, Trewhella said, that heighten the need to call upon Abbott and his administration to stand unwaveringly this time around. He noted that it is the duty of the people to encourage Abbott to do what is right, and then to support him when he does so.

“The role of the people regarding the Doctrine of the Lesser Magistrate is to prod their magistrates to do right when evil is trying to be done by the superior civil authority, and then to rally around their magistrate—to give them everything personally, publicly, of their prayers—to stand with them in their interposition,” Trewhella stated.

When asked how he could provide insight into why Christians need to get involved in issues such as these, he explained that the Body of Christ must live in sync with the heart of God, and must be motivated to act out of a burden for those things that hurt and offend a holy God, rather than coasting along with the rest of cultural Christianity.

“When you read history and you read the prophets of the Holy Scripture, you see that luxury is often an enemy of the souls of men. Luxury and ease tends of un-man them and destroy nations. And we, as Christian people, are not immune to the luxury and ease of this nation,” Trewhella said. “And so, we have to spend time in God’s Word and with each other talking about the things of Him in order to be built up in the faith, in order to stay on the straight and narrow path, and to do those things that are dear to His heart.”

“When it comes to the helpless and the shedding of innocent blood, we need to speak out so that bloodshed is brought to an end in our nation,” he exhorted.

A website has been launched surrounding the effort, called JeremiahsWish.org, where visitors may also sign a petition to Gov. Abbott. Supporters nationwide are additionally uploading videos to social media that kindly call for Abbott to keep his promise to Thomas.

“I join Jeremiah’s wish to see abortion ended in Texas,” the petition reads. “Please keep your promise to pursue the complete outlaw of abortion this legislative session by making it an emergency item. I promise to stand with you to protect the preborn children of Texas.”
