70,000 petitions delivered. As promised.

On Monday, we held a press conference at the Capitol in Austin with the Thomas family. A few members of the press were in attendance and we received some good coverage from the Austin American-Statesman.

Keep reading to the end to find video recordings from the event.

After the press conference, we gathered in the rotunda. With only 5 days notice, we had over 200 people join us (more arrived after this picture) and support us as we delivered the Jeremiah’s Wish petitions. We sang hymns and passed out literature to those gathered to listen to us sing.

At 3:30, we lifted up the 15 boxes (2 more arrived after that picture) and marched about 70,000 printed petitions to the governor’s public office where we delivered them.

It was a good day. But there was more to come the next day.

Will the Governor act?

On Tuesday, we attended Governor Abbott’s State of the State address and sat in silence as we listened to the governor. It was our hope that he would hear your voice and that it would remind him of his promise to a dying young Jeremiah Thomas.

We were disappointed, however.

In the governor’s 45 minute speech, he uttered not one word about abortion or saving preborn children. He said nothing of the over 55,000 children that are murdered via abortion in our state every year. He was completely silent on the issue of life.

His silence was deafening.

While the governor of New York is leading his state in the unadulterated murder of the preborn, the governor of “the most powerful state in the union”, as Governor Abbott told us in his address, is leading Texas by ignoring and refusing to intervene for the most vulnerable among us.

Governor Abbott has taken no meaningful action to keep the promise he made to Jeremiah Thomas.

One wonders if the governor really believes we are the most powerful state in the union, if he refuses to do his duty and protect the lives of the preborn. If not now, then when?

Trust not in Princes (or Governors)

But we have not lost faith. And we shouldn’t! We have not put our faith in Governor Abbott or any other government official, as the Psalmist says in Psalm 146:

Put not your trust in princes, in a son of man, in whom there is no salvation… blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the LORD his God, who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, who keeps faith forever; who executes justice for the oppressed, who gives food to the hungry… he upholds the widow and the fatherless, but the way of the wicked he brings to ruin.

Our faith is in God. We know He uses all things for our good. We know that if God’s not doing what we want Him to, then He has something better in mind. It is God who executes justice for the oppressed.

The Legislature IS acting:

But, despite the Governor’s inaction, the legislature is refusing to stay silent.

State Representative Tony Tinderholt from House District 94, a retired U.S. Army Major, has filed a bill. This bill is anything but silent on the issue of abortion.

This bill, HB 896, calls for a complete ban on abortions in Texas in defiance of the unconstitutional Roe vs. Wade court opinion.

It seeks to reverse the exemptions to special classes of people that remove criminal liabilities for murder of the preborn. It seeks equal protection under the law for those who cannot speak for themselves. In short, it seeks to establish justice.

Micah 6:8 He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?

Isaiah 1:17 learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow’s cause.

We need your help

I must be frank. We are trying to build an army of volunteers to support the outlawing of abortion in Texas. And building that army takes lots of time and lots of money.

Our elected officials need us to give them the courage to act. And that’s why we started Abolish Abortion Texas.

We raised over $60,000 from over 1100 separate people in 39 days to help fund the Jeremiah’s Wish campaign. And we put every single dollar of that money into reaching more people. The petition count is over 77,500 petitions as of today.

Here’s what we need…

1) We need to get co-authors on the bill. Please call your Texas state representatives and urge them to support HB 896.

2) We need to fund the effort to promote and support HB 896. Please give to help us push this bill this session.

Any amount helps. If everyone who signed the petition gave just $1 we could make some lasting impacts this session.

3) Continue to pray. Pray that we are faithful to call upon our elected officials to obey God not man.

With God on our side, who can be against us?

For life, for liberty, for Texas, and for our King,

Wes Thomas

Abolish Abortion Texas

LORD, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked triumph?

P.S. We still have bills rolling in for delivering the petitions and for getting the word out. If you can afford it, can you chip in $10 or $25 to help? (For those who want to know, Abolish Abortion Texas has no employees–we’re volunteers). Thank you! Go here to donate: https://jeremiahswish.org/support4
