May 11-13 Report
By Brenda Spurlock
Flip flew to Houston from Denver Tuesday and was whisked by car to Lake Charles, LA to speak at a fund raiser for a crisis pregnancy center. His theme was a call to fathers to fulfill their responsibilities before God. He reminded the audience that 2 Samuel 11:1-2 tells us "in the spring at the time when kings go out to battle...David stayed [home]." He said, "Remember how notoriously badly David lived when he didn't carry out his proper duties?" Flip said, he challenged the dads by telling them, "You are kings called to a battle for the heart of our nation."
When he flew back to Denver Wednesday, it was 35 degrees and raining. He had rented a car, but said he couldn't find it for an hour. He had a dead cell phone. He said, "It was God that got me to the car." (The dead phone has also made daily WAA reports impossible this past week) He drove into Kansas which was in the midst of tornadoes Wednesday night.
Thursday the team was joined by 19 folks from Gib Killion's home town of Kearney, NE. There were five adults including Kris Tyma, principal of a Christian school, a college student, a highschooler and a dozen middle schoolers. They took all our team members out for a fabulous meal at Golden Corral. Afterwards they had a big Bible study. Everybody gave a testimony as to why they had come out to the Walk.
