“I will give children to be their princes, and babes shall rule over them… As for My people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O My people! Those who lead you cause you to err, and destroy the way of your paths” (Isaiah 3:4; 12).

Recently, our ministry released a video called “Defending the Indefensible.” This brief video used the Mother’s Day Rescue in Louisville, KY to demonstrate a visual stark contrast of what happens when a nation abandons God. What happens when a culture calls good, evil and evil, good? What happens when the Supreme Court under the color of law unleashes lawlessness upon our polluted and defiled land? As we explore the Millennial’s march for gun control, this article will ask another question. What happens when a nation goes a whoring after other gods? The opening passage gives us a hint. The Scriptures warn that nations can be reduced to a place where the wisdom of the aged is replaced by the folly of the young. A misguided youth revolt could lead to massive oppression.

How is this possible? Biblically, it happens when a nation’s sayings and doings are against the Lord (Isaiah 3:8). As a result of nations rebelling against Almighty God sound leadership is set aside as nations are turned over to young, weak, inept, wicked rulers. Is anything like that possibly happening in the land of the free and the home of the brave?

We have youth raising their fists in defiance. They talk about our government as “old ass parents failing at gun control.” While another declares, “Enough is enough” while she grabs our founding documents and tears them up. Apparently, our socialistic public education that leeches on unjust taxation has finally come to fruition. Who will be left to pay the bill?

A prime example of this kind of youth revolt took place in Israel. It happened when Solomon, who started well and ended badly, died. The reins of power were transferred to his son, Rehoboam (1 Kings 11). Initially, Rehoboam was seeking wisdom on how to rule in his father’s stead. The elders gave him sound counsel. They stated, “If you will be a servant to these people today, and serve them, and answer them, and speak good words to them, then they will be your servants forever” (1 Kings 12:7).

Rehoboam inherited a mess from his father. As Solomon aged, he became more and more seduced by foreign women. They led him to apostasy, which turned his heart and ruined his faith. He set up false gods in Israel and worshipped them. This is after the true and living God appeared to him twice. Truly, the fickleness and depravity of men knows no bounds.

The Lord had a charge against Israel that led to the division of the Kingdom. Ten tribes remained under the banner of Israel, while Judah and the tribe of Benjamin remained under the governance of the capital city Jerusalem. This split, however, led to much civil strife that at times led to civil war in Israel.

It was Rehoboam’s youthful foolishness in seeking counsel from his peers that triggered this calamity upon Israel. His peers recommended, “Thus you should speak to this people who have spoken to you, saying, ‘Your father made our yoke heavy, but you make it lighter on us’—thus you shall say to them: ‘My little finger shall be thicker than my father’s waist! And now, whereas my father put a heavy yoke on you, I will add to your yoke; my father chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scourges’” (1 Kings 12:10, 11).

Notice the nation was suffering under the rein of Solomon towards the end of his administration. Instead of the next generation, represented by Rehoboam, reversing course to restore the nation, the youth doubled down on stupid. The rest they say is history. It did not turn out well for Israel and neither will it turn out good for America as our young follow this same disastrous pattern in our day.

The Beatles

It was during the 1960s that America was transformed by three revolutions. They were the drug, sexual, and spiritual revolutions. Each one of them served to undermine and overthrow the three legged stool that supported the soundness of our national body, which were faith, family, and freedom. We have never recovered. Our idolatry as a nation has reached the heavens as we commit child sacrifice, the shedding of innocent blood and parade our sin like Sodom.

It was the British invasion led by the Beatles that introduced for the first time in America a tragic concept. The younger generation knew better than their parents how to live. The cultural mores were dramatically radicalized by the conquest of the Beatles.

No longer would the young respect, look for guidance, and be mentored by the aged. No, only peers fueled by sex, drugs, and rock and roll will suffice. That rebellious sub-culture is now the corrupt establishment ruling in America today.

Couple that invasion with the teaching of evolution with its prized term adolescence and the American teenager was born. Cutting ties with parents was now expected and encouraged from our government schools to our licentiousness culture. We have staggered under this curse for decades as our youth intoxicated with cultural Marxism marches for gun control.

Lessons from Scripture

As we explore some lessons from Scripture, it will become clear the Bible supports an armed populace. It also demonstrates the danger of tyranny when a people cannot defend themselves. Without question, the Bible supports the 2nd Amendment in our Bill of Rights. Without it, our first Amendment with all its cherished liberties cannot be sufficiently safeguarded. President Thomas Jefferson stated it well, “When government fears the people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny.”

The 2nd Amendment, therefore, was not primarily established for duck hunting, but to be an added check and balance. Our Founding Fathers knew Scripture and the long bloody history of despotism. They were well aware of the sinful tendency of men to dominate other men. In fact, slavery was their national sin that eventually brought national calamity upon America in the form of the Civil War.

Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. This is true, unless, of course, we are addressing the power and authority of Almighty God. This is the hard lesson of history. Tragically, this generation that has been purposely dumbed down is clueless to these realities. Thus, they demand security at the expense of liberty. History will prove, they will be worthy of neither.

In Genesis, we find one of the first instances of the need for an armed populace. Abraham’s nephew Lot was taken captive, along with his family, plus the inhabitants of Sodom and Gomorrah by neighboring warring nations. Abraham armed his household of 300 men, routed these hostile nations and delivered the captives. Amazingly, God used Abraham to deliver the wicked cities of Sodom and Gomorrah even though they were committing the filthy practice and abomination of homosexuality. He is truly a patient and merciful God (Genesis 14).

In the ongoing struggle between Israel and the Philistines, there came a time when Israel was placed at a major disadvantage. The nation was completely unarmed, except for Saul the king and his son Jonathan. They were the only ones with swords. The results were tyrannical oppression afflicted on them by the Philistines (1 Samuel 13).

Recent History Lessons of Nations Adopting Gun Control

This scenario can be played out throughout history. Common sense tells us an unarmed populace is at the mercy of potential tyrants that are typically void of mercy. The following are just a sample of what happens to citizens who foolishly comply with their government’s gun control policies.

The Soviet Union disarmed their citizens under the brutal Stalin regime. Tens of millions of Russian citizens were murdered, starved, or were rounded up and placed in labor camp/prisons. They were forced to work, most of the time to their deaths. Our youth today are marching to the same Marxist “lite” philosophical drum beat. Ideas have consequences.

The Ottoman Empire, the origins of which were in Turkey, implemented full blown gun control in 1911. A few years later, beginning in 1915 and lasting until 1917, some 1.5 million Armenians (out of a total of 2.5 million) living within the empire were rounded up and murdered by the “Young Turks” of the ruling class. In what has since been called the Armenian Holocaust.

Adolph Hitler’s Nazi Germany established gun control in 1938, just prior to the implementation of his horrendous, murderous campaign to exterminate the Jews. In the end, 13 million Jews and other perceived lesser races were killed by Hitler and his Nazi Party.

The Nationalist Chinese government established gun control in 1935, just two years before Japan invaded in 1937. In the period from 1935 to 1952, some 20 million citizens and political dissidents were murdered. The Chinese Cultural Revolution, which was launched by the country’s supreme ruler, Mao Zedong, took place from 1966-1976. It claimed the lives of several million people and inflicted cruel and inhuman treatments on hundreds of million people.

Cambodia issued its total gun control edict in 1956, but the real carnage did not begin until several years later, during the regime of the demonic Pol Pot. Between 1975 and 1977, his regime murdered as many as 1 million “educated” people whom he believed represented a threat to his power.

In all, more than 56 million people around the world have been murdered as a result of gun control laws imposed by rulers and despots who knew that the only way they could continue to brutalize their own people and stay in power was by disarming them. Source for these stats are:

Gun Control or Self-Control

“So Jesus said, Are you also still without understanding? Do you not yet understand that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and is eliminated? But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man. For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies. These are the things which defile a man, but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile a man” (Matthew 15:16-20).

The gun control movement is built on a humanistic worldview. They perceive the problem with man is outside of man. It is his environment. Thus, it is certain objects that must be censored or controlled. If humanism, as we know it today, was around when Cain murdered Abel, the cry would have been to ban certain size rocks.

Just take a look at London, England to verify this naive approach to violence. England banned guns. Obviously, everybody is now safe from violence, right? Wrong! Knife violence has spiked exponentially. In fact, in America more people are murdered by hammers and knives than the dreaded assault rifle. Why no cry or march for knife and hammer control?

Today, the humanistic environmentalist movement is essentially responsible for transforming criminals into victims, which in turn, blames society for their crimes. Carelessly, it removes personal responsibility and accountability from the individual. The blame must therefore be ascribed elsewhere.

For those who hold to this ideology, the guilt lies with the environment, which determines men’s actions. It is this argument being articulated in the current debate over gun control. Unfortunately, it is not about guns, but control. It is the evil guns that murder people, not deranged criminals. In the humanist world, guns murder people, spoons make people fat and cars causes accidents.

The Marxist, Lincoln Steffens, seeking to justify this premise theologically declared, “It was, it is, the apple.” Thus, according to communism, socialism and every other statist, totalitarian system of men, the blame lies not with the disobedience of man that violates God’s revealed law. It was not the treacherous act committed by our first parents against their Creator. No, man’s wretched condition stems from the environment, “the apple.”

Notice, our Creator who came in the flesh, Jesus Christ, pinpoints the source of human woe, violence, and mayhem. It comes from within the human heart. The problem is in us, not our environment. You can dress up a pig and put perform on it, but it will still resort to the mire of life in our poor fallen world.

There is not a police department big enough to force men to do what is right. No laws, bans, or public policies can work from the outside in to transform a violent, depraved human soul. But there is another King, one called Jesus. Once He enters the human heart, He shuts down the crime factory. He can take hardened criminals that once took human life by violence and transform them. The love and truth contained in the Gospel of the Kingdom has the power to change mankind from predators to protectors.

If America wants to curb future violence, we must remove our God-free zones first. Otherwise, our gun-free zones will merely invite more violence and perversion to savage our children. Christ or Chaos? Choose wisely America. Your future hangs in the balance.
