May 18 Report
By Brenda Spurlock
The team arrived in Russell, KS, the heartbeat of America, earlier today. As the Living Parable approached St. Johns Lutheran Church in Russell, Flip said they saw a woman putting up a marquee that said, "God Himself does not judge a man until he is dead, so why should you?" Of course, they couldn't just pass by without a response. They stopped to tell the woman that God is already judging men. Flip said, "It's because of statements like this that homosexual marriages are taking place, unborn children are being slaughtered, and all religions have been leveled so that every single one of them is considered the same." Flip said, "We confronted this lie and told her the people who founded this church would never have tolerated the idea expressed on the marquee." The lady became very indignant. She said, "Why don't you just get out of here? A man going into the church yelled, "Are you paying for the grass your horse is eating? I just spent 10 hours planting that s---!"
When the team stopped at the door of a Sr. Citizen Center to tell them about the Living Parable, a woman came out and said, "I'm a Christian." Flip said, "Good, good, we've been looking for one." As he described their mission, she said, "I'm not that kind of Christian." He asked her if she had been born again and she said, no, that she had only been born once and that was enough for her.
Flip said their experiences have been disturbing. They're beginning to detect an unpleasant pattern. They passed through Hugo, Colorado, a town of 250 people that had elected a lesbian mayor. They saw an elementary school in Colby, Kansas that had a UN quote inscribed on the building: Each nation has a duty to give each child the very best. "This is from an organization that's so compassionate they're eager to kill as many children in the womb as they possibly can," Flip said. "Then this cold reception in Russell, when I'm expecting the heartland to agree with the message of Christ." He said he's been thinking and wondering how to explain it. He said, "I don't know if this is the right explanation or not, but it occurred to me that there are many farmers in the heartland, that they all receive subsidies from the government, and perhaps we've lost our integrity and our character because we've been bought off."
